my version of a 100 watt led flashlight

I hope to have a nice 100 watt flashlight soon, using some stuff from ebay, housed in a 105mm brass howitzer shell.

led I’m using

driver I’m using

anyone have a recommendation on a reflector that would work great with this or instead of the lens? also some glass that would be good to put in front of the reflector?

will post some pictures later, esp once I get the brass shell.

That should blow everything away. Make sure you post up your build thread.

I will  I Have the led and driver connected and tested… should post pictures of those.

what battery arw you using?
a 3S LiPo?

can you somehow vary the output?

I havent decided on a battery as of yet. been doing testing using a 12 volt gel cell. and I hope to replace the adjustment pots on the driver with 10 turn standard size ones with counters.

Is this going to be EDC’able :)?

kinda doubt it  its gonna be around 37 cm long by 11 cm around

Perfect for EDC…. The ladies will be winking at you with front pocket carry….

Seriously looking to see the build posts… This will be pretty cool!

lol, dont know how much its gonna weigh, but I’m guessing 10 lbs or more.

” either I am really happy to see you , or have a howitzer shell in my pants…”

well I drilled the holes for the mounting bolts in the led heatsink. just have to tap them now. using 8-32 sized brass screws, gonna use as much brass fasteners and stuff as I can…

its going slow cause I dont want to break the tap. 2 out of 8 tapped… 6 more to go… yay  then I can mock up the mounting in the pvc tube I have, get some brass strips and mount the driver, order the pot’s and switches, and then order the shell… all while taking lots of photos…

okay, up to 4 out of 8 tapped now, heres a photo for ya.

i have the same 100W LED with the same reflector mounted on a big hitsink with fan, battery is 12v.
the driver i got is 600W boos, and i couldnt get more then 1.5A out to the led,
every thing is inside an old computer ups box.
only way i could get 3A is when conected to my car battery while the engine is runing…
i alsow tested it with 4x18650 in series and got the same result (36v @ 1.5A)
i may need to test it with more 18650 battery setup, see if i will get the 3A needed to run this LED properly.
please update your result

interesting. hope you get your setup figured out. waiting for a special meter so I can adjust mine properly and money for the brass shell. $75 or so for one…

special meter?
any dmm with 10A option will do
take a look at this video

well I’m waiting for a voltage/current/wattage meter, it measures all 3 at once and displays them all at once.

heres the heatsink mounted in a pvc pipe that is roughly the same size around as the brass shell
it should provide a close template for the holes in the brass shell, now to wait till thursday to order the brass shell, anyone know where I can find some cheaper than etsy? I only need one.

!

!

1) you WILL need a fan

2) I’ve tested some of those drivers… forget doing 100W.

as long as it lights up pretty bright, I dont care what it does…
