Advise for a 1X18650 thrower, S200C2, M2X-UT or?

I have been cheated by a fake Canadian flashlight brand… :expressionless:
According to their website their top range tactical thrower could reach that:

Maximal light output:
1250 LED lumens
Maximal light output (OTF):
1100 OTF lumens
Beam distance:
540m
Peak Beam Intensity :
72800 cd (AH aH ah… :money_mouth_face: ) Sendra? You got me once, never again! You b…

That was just big baloney figures! it’s all bs :Sp !

Not just that the flashlight didn’t perform like expected, but the overall quality is flimsy and there is defect on both the body and the reflector. I won’t go night hiking with that crap.

Guess what? The first thing you do to test a flash light is to insert a battery! AND I SWEAR that my copy could NOT take any 18650 without using this:

OR THAT:

I went for the second one… No kidding! There was a big ugly tick aluminium burr at 30% of the head inside the battery tube!

Armytek control quality? ZERO, NADA!

Should be an internl issue with their workers, no lobby and coffee machine stuff…
This is what I can guess about ArmyTek facilities…

Yeah, I know. My fault too… I didn’t check the background of that Armytek crap. I should have done some research before buying online,

But never too late to improve! BLF! now here I Am!

I noticed some interesting model like the EaleTac S200C2, and also a more “ultra-thrower” model like the Olight M2X-UT (slightly more bulky, but more throw)

Members who have experience with that 2 models, advises are welcome. I need something that can be easily modded too.

Also, how usable is that “tiny-very-hotspot” from the Javelot?

I like the beam profile of the S200C2, but I prefer the “double click to-high” from Olight interface… Is the head thread mechanism of the EagleTac reliable in long term?

Thanks for your advise

Charles

I can’t say for the S200-C2, but I do have the eagletac T200C2 and I can vouch for the twist mode change. It has worked perfectly everyday for the last nearly 2 years. As far as how usable the very tiny hotspot is, if you are looking at something closer than about 30 feet, then no. It is very useable when you start using it out to 50-75 yards or so. I’m not sure how good either one is for modding.

Send them the pic and ask for a new one or a refund

As long as you keep it cleaned and well lubed it should work great for a long time!

Well …m8, to chill you out i have to say that THE only Surefire flashlight that i got ( 360$ with VAT and taxes to EU ) came with A BROKEN HEAD THREAT….so, quality is quite a relative term nowadays

I would go for M2x if i were you, when modded its a real beast.

Currently they come with quite white/ cool white XPL HI emitter( i know cause i order those like every month) and it need to be swapped asap especialy if you hunt, but with a nice dedomed v6 or why not XPG2 plu s a good 26mm DD driver youll have a little pocket rocket

Several years ago I paid about 600 $ for Microfire Warrior 3500 HID (first version of this flashlight).

Neither it has 3500 lumens (more like 2000) and throws like crap(60 kcd), and it flickers like a bloody Christmas light :)

I like 20$ zoomie(340 000 lux, 800 lumens) more than this reflector hid crap.

A modded C8 might interest you. I bought this C8 from 18sixfifty and it’s a great little thrower. You might also want to read this thread about the C8. For the money it’s a hard light to beat.

The Javelot is a superb light, I’ve been using one as my distance light at work for a few months now. I used to have a Fenix TK75 for the job and while that put out a lot more light than the Javelot I’d pick the Olight every time.

I would say a modded C8.

It also seems like the purpose of all your comments and threads is to bash ARMYTEK, we all already know your disappointment but repeatedly posting the same thing in different unrelated threads makes you a troll.

Most of my C8’s are from Convoy who builds very good quality lights at excellent prices. You can buy direct from him at his AliExpress store to ensure it’s going to be real. I have a modded Ultrafire C8 which is also good regardless of how crap their cells might be. There are many C8 lights which are reviewed on this site so I suggest doing a search for any specific info you need.

I like the budget aspect here because I’ve discovered that most of the highly-promoted high-priced lights can be matched in performance and quality by ones costing less (or you can get close to what they do for a lot less). Especially if you do some modding. A simple emitter swap can get you any CRI available and dedoming it will make it a thrower. Or you can join one of the many Group Buys for a light that meets your needs. Spending lots of money guarantees nothing as you’ve seen; far better to spend less on a known product which many people here recommend.

M2X-UT has the factory dedomed XM-L2 emitter which gives the beam a slight greenish tint compared to the regular cool white of the M3-X.

The M2X-UT also has a more sharply defined hotspot.

Same here. Convoy C8’s are good value for money
I have a Convoy C8 that was modded for me. Using a dedomed xp-g2 and current boosted, does 105 kcd
and it works every time.

I got a custom built Convoy C8 from Richard (RMM) at mountain electronics. Does a heck of a job for a small light with what I had him put in it. (my soldering sucks because I cant see the small stuff)

I got the Version 2 but he said the version 3 will do just the same it is just a little more work for him with new version. Cost: around $45 to $50 to your door.

4.1—4.2 amps at 30 seconds and 400 plus yards throw.
6 modes starting with moon up through turbo.

Here is what is in it and some beamshots also.

Or if you like to watch I did a review of the light just to do a review. (Still shots in video and here are a lot more true to life than the video is though, as I have a cheap video camera) There is a teardown of the light also in video. I was practicing and figured I would give Richard some free advertising here and my Youtube channel as he contributes a lot to this forum (free of charge).

Just bought m2x ut and it has xp-l hi. They have changed leds to xp-l couple months ago

Hey Robo, love the beam shots! Just for accuracy sake, your light has a de-domed 1C tint? I have always stayed away from de-doming the 1C tint bin as it’s been said that it ends up a nasty color. Your’s is awesome, and exactly where I would like my de-dome tint to end up. Hmm, might be switching a lot of lights to the 1C…

Thanks scotlarock.

Richard has done a number of dedomes for me and they always come out great no matter what tint he used.

Edit: Yes that is correct it is a dedomed XM-L2 U4 1C emitter in the light.

You should try our XPG2 in C8 Robo, with the proper driver and 5+ amps youll have a little or even better candelas than M2X and same beam profile

The emitter aint fake , its just a cool white HI version, as you said it should be swapped immediately cause its realy horrible, they put by default a HI in there now, wonder why ….

Pound for pound, nothing will really beat the M2X. It's truly a stand-alone contender among all non-modded lights (and I don't recommend modding unless the modder is reputable and really knows what he/she is doing). I think the M2X is as close as you can come to a perfect pocket thrower, minus only the issue of the tint on the lower modes and the dinky little lanyard ring.

Its all gone now m8, even a nice modded XPG2 C8 beats it easy, as said in several posts here it uses XPL HI now….lumen output is lowered…cds are lowered, the tint is a nasty cold white one mixed with green due to the AR glass

it SHOULD be modded on arrival, its not that hard though: only an emitter swap, a spring bypass and adding 20 awg wires brings aditional at least 20% increase in performance( at least)

Not to mention the fact that the cool white realy fades away in dusty, foggy, misty, snowy or rainy weather
conditions

There are new revisions m8, its just Cree didnt annouced it in the PDFs, they are better in general but yet a dedomed V6 is ways better… using XPG2 makes this light exacly like m3x though
