Greetings,
Today’s review will be dedicated to Olight latest “keychain” flashlight, the i3E EOS.
There are several versions of the flashlight, I will try do describe them
1. There are three main versions of the flashlight, that differ by price, color and brightness. The black is the cheapest, the colored versions are a bit more expansive and the silver model is the most expensive. The silver model is completely PVD coated, and has a brightness of 120 lumen vs 90 that all the other versions have.
2. The flashlight is very compact (as you will see in comparison with other compact flashlight).
3. Despite having a single mode of operation the flashlight has some brightness stabilization.
4. Philips LUXEON TX LED is being used, paired with TIR optics.
5. Price. It is one of the cheapest branded flashlights I have ever encountered. The prices are 9.99-13.99$ (for the silver version). And that’s for a branded flashlight with 5 year warranty.
Shall we start?
I received all the versions, besides the silver one for review. I conducted tests only on the black version (there are no differences with the colored versions, besides color).
The flashlight arrives in small blister package. It is impossible to remove it from the package without tearing it apart (I guess it is a kind of theft-protection).
Here it is. A very small, very light flashlight, even with Eneloop installed. In order to turn it on you fully tighten the head, and to turn of a little twist of the head will do.
You have to be a jedi do tail-stand the flashlight, and even if you do it falls within moments. Interestingly, evel the ring that should hold the flashlight to your keychain is black in the black version, and silver in all other versions.
This is the positive lead surroundings.
The negative lead had a spring contact. The threads are square-cut, and there are a lot of them.
The flashlight comes with a battery (please notice that it is sealed when you try to turn on the light). I used Eneloop for the review.
Comparison with the D.Q.G slim AAA. Olight is much smaller. And … difference in quality really shows, there are no rough edges on the Olight.
Here they are at my rather small palm.
Brightness graph. It’s an AAA after all ….
Some real life light pictures
A bright white light with a huge hotspot, as expected.
A little water-resistance test
Passed
I measured 500 cd at meter distance, right like Olight promised.
Conclusion, final words
Great. A fine light, at very reasonable price.
I would like to thank *Olight*for providing me the review sample
