Got some of the new XM-L2 U4 1A emitters in, on 20mm Noctigons. De-domed one, built an MTN FET driver with 4 modes (ATTiny13A and PSMN0R9) and used 20ga Turnigy leads, 20ga spring bypass in the tail, moved the OEM brass button over to the new driver from the Lucky Sun BLF Special Edition D80. With a fresh charged Efest Purple 35A 18650 flat top I’m seeing 5.23A at the tail on my UNI-T clamp meter and 1500.75 lumens from the de-domed emitter. Not bad!

21.08 lumens
169.74
482.66
1500.75

I also filed down and sanded smooth the EDC black centering ring. Applied Kapton tape on the bottom of the reflector just to be on the safe side. Wink

Similar to DB but used the U4 1C on a 20mm Noct in an eagle eye x6. Replaced the faulty switch and tried an LDCH LD29. As above great throw and good color. It almost looks like a 1A cross B tint. White with a faint yellow ring.

A friend of mine wanted to have his little bike light repaired. Here in Holland we have those tiny 2xCR2032 5mm led bike lights that are strapped around the handle bars. His one went dead and it appeared just a bended battery contact. Bended it back and it works fine again. Smile

This was too easy so I left a souvenir inside…

The annoying rgb led is conquering the world!!!

Modified a KRONOS BLF Limited Edition Aluminum X5 into a Quad Nichia 219C, 2960.1 lumens out the front on Turbo, 0.24 lumens in moon.

I used a 1 1/2” dia 6061 bar stock to re-create the reflector into a heat sink for the quad mcpcb. On this one, I even threaded it so it screws in just like the OEM reflector does. Replicated the ramped shelf up top for the o-ring to maintain water proof specs as well. Very little difference in weight, a LOT of difference in output! The Bistro UI still works fine, so it has the police strobe and bicycle strobe in the hidden group. I used larger ga wires throughout, 20ga Turnigy including spring bypasses top and bottom.

Love it when a little light kicks butt! The AA size Efest purple IMR14500 is a really capable little cell, for sure.

That’s nice work Dale. Is aluminum sufficient in that application?

A very nice quad you made! That threaded dedicated heatsink should be made for sale somehow! (but adapted to the thickness of the new Cutter quad board because Dsche’s copper quad boards are not available anymore)

This must be the most amazing thread on BLF!

OK I am eyeballing this
http://m.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_194287.html

I hate the color, would it bake to a nice gray or would that childish camouflage still be visible?

the camouflage finish is probably painted (like the camo sk68’s a while ago), so the paint will probably just burn.

I put together my first triple Big Smile
Blue S2+, illuminated tailcap (blue), BLF A6 driver, homemade copper spacer, triple Nichia 219C on Noctigon and Carclo 10507 optic. Both springs bypassed.
Incredibly bright, even with a Samsung 26H (tested at 5A max current on CPF).
I didn’t measured the tailcap current, my ammeter is not reliable at high currents.

^Well done ^

I bored out the battery tube on my Xeno Cube triple to accommodate an Efest 16500 effectively doubling capacity.

Just installed the mcclicky kit that came in the mail this morning into a maglite tail cap.

This should be good enough right??? Haha time to make a cup of tea and head downstairs to play lathe.

Thank you, I made it with some 3mm LEDs (dremelled down ^^), and standard resistors. It’s a tight fit and had to try many differents values to find the compromise between good illumination and working modes (backward/forward is tricky when you add some resistors…)

Tried to upgrade the heat colored C8
Had LB led, no memory 5 mode driver
Warnted to use the AK47 driver with low cell protection 2 modegroups and a nice tinted XML.
Made a mistake and did not replace the wires banggood delivered the driver with.
So when cutting the wires to a better size after pressing it in the pill the red one came out.
No tools to push it out, it is very tight. Fear I need to use a nail and break the driver, then all I have is a A6 BLF fet driver.
So put it away and for easter we are going to paint some eggs.

Ok all done with the “MagClicky” mod. Looks better now.

I’m getting a reading of 4 ohms across the switch. Any thoughts on this? It seems a little high to me. I clipped a lead it the end of the spring and the other to the side of the cap.

Use a squared off toothpick or headless matchstick. You should be able to miss the components and pop it out without damage.

@Firelight- that’s a dsche quad. The cutter dtp quads aren’t available yet but they mentioned marketing them through MtnE.

Yesterday I decided to make a companion for the Mokume Sinner, to help in sizing a holster for the Mokume light and also give immediate access to spare cells. So I made a 2×18350 cell carrier that’s the same size as the Mokume light. Now I can make the holster in a more “square” configuration at about 2 1/2” wide x 3 1/2” high so a belt clip will fit behind it better.

Cut it from clear polycarbonate rod, 1” diameter. It was kind of fun boring it out, normally a bore that deep is a blind operation but the clear material enabled me to see the cutting tool and watch the chips stack making it easy to see when it needed clearing. The side walls at the cells are nearly 3.5mm thick, should be pretty impact resistant and will definitely help protect the 2 extra cells.

OMG! How in the world did you do that signature marking? Awesome!

No disrespect, but I find that 719Kcd difficult to believe. I’ve had mine (when I had one) at 500-600 and the spot is intense, even at just over 400 it threw across the Mississippi at Vicksburg. Probably deceptive though, as there is a lot of ambient light in that picture for sure. I know it’s very hard to reach those numbers, in ANY light.

I did the same thing with the 32mm Noctigon and XP-G2, found the driver very difficult to mod fully as it would peak over 8A and blow emitters at turn on, very frustrating for me to get the output limited just below ceiling. Finally traded it off.

Great work, love the writing, hoping you’ll share how you did that!
