I have a few of what I would call “flashlight crumbs” I would like to give to someone in the USA. There are a couple of new drivers I’ve just never used, some medium/large reflectors, and the mcpcb loaded with xhp70.2 that are probly mostly working out of my imalent dx80. Just post your I’ll take it here and then message me your address. All of it it is going together in one box to one person, if that person wants to regift any of it that is their business Smile

I shaved a 3000K LH351D (a LOT, might have even taken a hair off the phosphor on one small section) in a BLF A6.

Hot spot w/ 18350 and stock AR glass at ?? volts:

Low to High:

Ambient = 81.0 Lux, CCT = 2880K (Duv 0.0003)
Color Rendering Index (Ra) = 94.8 [ R9 = 75.4 ]

Ambient = 1391.6 Lux, CCT = 2852K (Duv 0.0005)
Color Rendering Index (Ra) = 94.4 [ R9 = 73.6 ]

Ambient = 5133.7 Lux, CCT = 2937K (Duv 0.0000)
Color Rendering Index (Ra) = 92.7 [ R9 = 68.6 ]

Ambient = 11117.5 Lux, CCT = 2924K (Duv -0.0011)
Color Rendering Index (Ra) = 92.0 [ R9 = 64.8 ]

Here was my old post with the dome on:

Reflowed (reflew?) some emitters.

(Note: They are straight off the hotplate, cooling down. Haven’t been cleaned yet! Smile )

4 orange unknown emitters for a “lantern/bonfire simulator” project.
4 219C 5000K to a PL47 board.
And took off 4 XP-L HD (1 broken) emitters, and put on 4 SST-20 4000K

Given my recent journey into reflowing, it has accumulated a lot of loose emitters.
How do you store your bare emitters ?

If I think I will use them again I put them in a small ziplockbag with a label on it, but most end up loose in a boring-parts-box, usually to never be used again. But occasionally I take one out for a build and nowadays I can check tint/CRI before using it.

Not my mod but attention worthy:
Vinh has upped the power of a LEP flashlight, increasing output by about 60%. He may be the first to do so and speak up publicly.

One is a mountain electronics 10mm FET I never got around to using. One is some performer made by a blf member I cant remember. The driver was a big deal at the time I purchased it so maybe chops can post a picture of it and someone will recognize it. The package it came in came from Croatia.

Yep that is it. Looks like I have an old version but it should be a 12 amp capable driver. http://budgetlightforum.com/node/39824?page=4 All my comments when ordering are here.

I’ve got an entry for what did you break today

Pulled the pad off the FET (likely already stressed from changing the bezel on my FW3A a few times and re-soldering wires)

Any idea if this can be repaired?

You can carefully scrape the solder mask next to fet. You can do it with a tiny screwdriver or even a needle.

Thank you both! Will try this tonight. Might tape down the wire flat since there’s so little space in driver cavity on the sides.

I got fooled by a travel clock today.

Bought it new at a local store (Hema) last week.

(Sofirn C01 is for size reference)

It runs on a single AA and has a small 3mm led that lights via a momentary switch on the back, to check the time at night.

It is pretty bright, my planned mod was to add a high value resistor in series with the led and replace the momentary switch with a slide-switch, so the clock can be lighted all night at a non-disturbing brightness. I like that much better.

I was surprised to like the tint of the led, pretty good for a cheap travel clock, so before starting the mod I checked the tint with the spectrometer.
And good it was indeed: 2300K, 96.3CRI, R9=83, duv -0.022. Shocked This is a holy grail led , where did the Hema source it?

Then I checked the spectrum Facepalm

I would love to see some new leds with round die. But for now i am really happy to have my SBT-70 Aspheric on my shelf. Again thanks to DB Custom for making it possible.
Had to mill the underside of the led cover thinner to make space for the SBT-70. The cover barely touches the glass above the led. Took some time to center it but i think now it looks good.
Before the assembly every part was really good cleand and i still have a few dust spots under the lens Crying .
I would love to add some shots from this led in moon mode. The blue shining line arround the led looks so cool. But with my phone it is not visible. Maybe i can find someone in my area to take a few nice shots.

My work light died today. So I Frankensteined something together for the time being. Aspheric quad 219b doesn’t look to bad.

I haven’t been around to know it, so I ask: this is an incan, right?

Yes,mit was an oldschool mini-incan bulb. Probably cheaper than a piece of circuitry to boost the voltage of the AA-battery for use with a led.

I fixed my old bluetooth speaker…the stupid microUSB charge port broke off the mother board….so I opened it…soldered in a tp4056 module, cut end off bad USB cable and wired in…closed it up…yay..can charge the battery and listen to my audiobooks on my drive to work

That’s the only thing I have modded lately…

I guess this counts as a mod Big Smile

I’m at the proof of concept stage, testing layout.

I’m building a:

  • Replica prop from Pulp Fiction
  • Bonfire/Fireplace emulator
  • Suitcase with ~18000mAh capacity + 5V USB output
  • Very big over-engineered ambient temperature measurement device
  • Orange quad mule with unnecessary active cooling, just because!

It’s gonna have 9 × 18650 LG S3 2000mAh cells loaded when it’s done.
It has a 3A charge circuit, the 1A micro-usb took forever charging this many cells at once.
I’m still considering adding a second emitter choice, so it can shift from orange to perhaps a warm white.
It’s running on a Emisar D4 driver, flashed with the latest Anduril 2019-06-02 firmware. So it has all the blinkies.
The 4 leds are salvaged from a Orange Beacon light. All I can find is that they are “3W”. Have 4x XP-E2 P3 amber LEDs on order, for MOAR OUTPUT!
Still need to find something to cover the leds, to act as a diffuser. Something that can fold, or fit in the case when closed.

Looks impressive. Mind not to go through customs with that suitcase.
