Paying for a product then a delay.

■■■ EDIT ■■■

I’ve deleted some parts of this post as I appreciate that the tone of it wasn’t very nice, I was tempted to delete the whole thing but if I did the subject of the thread wouldn’t be there for anyone to understand.

Just tell me if I should delete it.

Sorry about that , I’m a stupid fool at times.

I’ll not name the seller’s yet but it annoys me when you pay for an item that if not otherwise stated you would assume would be in stock and other seller’s that do state that the item is in stock and ready for immediate despatch.
.
You then get a tracking number that isn’t recognised by numerous tracking websites for almost a week, does the seller already have these tracking number’s and then will pass them onto the buyer way before the postal/courier even has the package in their possession.
.
I hate ordering thing’s from China but a lot of the time there’s little choice if you want something.

I’ve placed order’s from six place’s, please don’t assume who I’m talking about.

It depends on a lot of factors.

Sometimes sellers will give a completely fake tracking#.

Sometimes sellers will create a genuine tracking number/label, but not package up the item til a long time later.

Sometimes sellers will create a genuine tracking number/label, then hand it off to their courier service to take it to the shipping center, and the courier just sits on it for a while before actually shipping.

Sometimes sellers will create a genuine tracking number/label, then hand it off to their courier service to take it to the shipping center, who goes and ships it, then China Post never actually scans the label, so it looks like a fake tracking# the whole time it’s on the slow boat.

I personally do just as little business with the Chinese sites as I can manage because I’ve got the patience of a small child and the sort of behavior you’re describing annoys the crap out of me. The only exception I regularly make is Simon/Convoy’s Aliexpress store. I’ve never had a problem there and Simon is awesome to work with.

Sometimes, however, it just can’t be avoided. Right now, from one of the other “big” Chinese sites, I’ve got two “packages” that won’t track, one of them dated 12/25/15. The other one is only about 9 days old but its especially suspect to me. I ordered the stuff weeks ago and the website claimed it was all in stock. Then a few weeks pass and it doesn’t ship so I clicked the cancel/refund button on the website. That threw me an error that basically said “Can’t Cancel”, but then amazingly about 2 hours later I got a shipping notice. That was 9 days ago and that suspiciously timed tracking number still won’t track.

PD68 has a lot of valid points.

Just look at it this way...what used to take months if not a year not occurs in weeks. That is just the way it is. The only way around it is to pay someone local that also paid and waited for the product to arrive and then waited for one of us to come in.

Fingers crossed that it’s on it’s way, it just gets frustrating when you check every day and it appears that nothing is happening. Still no changes today with the tracking number not being recognised.

I admit it’s a bit daft checking every day when you expect something to take 3 week’s to be delivered.

That’s typical, frustrating when you expect something to be on it’s way. :open_mouth:

I think I’ll contact the seller, it won’t do any harm.

You’re definitely right in saying it cannot be avoided, I’m surprised at how little that can be purchased in the UK never mind Europe. So China it will have to be.

I don’t know how big the market is in the UK and Europe but like you I hate waiting. I only wish there were business’s closer as they would certainly get my business but I can appreciate it takes time to build a something that will stock the vast array of product’s. Difficult to compete with the Chinese with price when most of the product’s are made in the region.

That’s true, nowadays you get used to thing’s being delivered very quickly especially so with Amazon which is next day.

Ebay is anything between 1 to 3 day’s.

I hate waiting, I’m not accustomed to waiting 3 week’s. I’ll no choice but having to accept that now. :~

I had similar experiences a year ago; Have to say that generally speaking shipping from Asia has improved a lot. Especially Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore is faster than in the past.

Yes, there are occasional lost shipments but the overall yield is better than before. Most of my shipments are with me in less than 30 days, about 15-20% of them need 30-45 days and an even smaller percentage is a 60+ item.

Have to admit I never order special items where stock might be scarce or difficult to deal with; only general stuff like batteries, cases, “normal” lights…

Please don’t make titles with “!!!”

Maybe I’m the only one—but I avoid Rant threads, and just the title is so
much overkill…… :frowning:

I’ve had tracking numbers that no tracking site could track, even after two or three weeks. I always blamed myself for doing something wrong or chalked it up to a language problem. Fake tracking numbers would explain a lot.

It gives me a better idea on what to expect when I’ve read your experience’s, thanks.

When a tracking number isn’t recognised I just thought the worst, that’s me.

I see your point, I admit it was an overeaction.

Probably influenced by how I was feeling yesterday, which isn’t much of an excuse. :frowning:

I’ll try to use the !!! when it’s strictly necessary ( seriously ).

UPDATE.

I contacted the seller and they say that the tracking number won’t be recognised by the receiving courier just yet.

I’ve ordered a fair few product’s from China now and I’ve been able to use the tracking number with the sender’s courier from China, I was surprised that this isn’t the case this time, it hasn’t happened before now. I’m not sure if that’s unusual?

I’ll gave the seller the benefit of the doubt as I have no reason not to believe what I was told as they’ve very good with me in the past.

It is not unusual at all. Most of the time it works but even at the moment I have several order from a couple different vendors whose tracking does not work as I would expect BUT that does not mean it is not working. In my case it has more to do with the USPS system not functioning properly.

Ahh, when it doesn’t track at all you just assume something isn’t right.

I hope your package’s turn up soon, I now know what to expect, this was the first time it’s happened.

I’ll have to stop checking the tracking every day.

Everything I order has to pass the “can I wait 30-60 days for this?” check. If not, I find whatever it is on Amazon with Prime shipping and get it in 2 days. Like tonight I just ordered a pair of $20 bluetooth headphones from GearBest to replace the $100 Skull Candy headphones that I dropped and now make a crackling sound during my workouts when I use them. It’s annoying but I’ll wait. It’s more annoying buying expensive electronics that crap out faster than the cheap stuff. I went back to a cheap Chinese tablet and I’ll probably be happier with my cheap headphones. I never even bother checking the tracking. It arrives when it arrives, within reason of course.

One package arrived yesterday so I assume the others are right behind. It has happened before so I don't sweat it. Like Racer says 30-60-90. ;)

I can understand your way of thinking thinking.

I’ll have to be more patient.

That’s good. You’re right, the other’s shouldn’t be far behind.
.

I was going to buy another Convoy C8 but I cannot work out who’s going to deliver it the quickest, last time I used Banggood Europe and it was delivered in a few day’s but they’re closed for a few weeks.

So China this time, there’s Simon at Convoy, other’s on Aliexpress.com and the other popular seller’s Fastech, Banggood China etc.

I may as well throw the dice as I now know the shipping isn’t predictable.

another good source for the C8 is Lightscastle. Reasonably fast, good packaging. all items I have ordered from them were also 100% real.

Ahh, I’ll have a look on their website.

Thanks

For the most part, the faster you want something, the more it’s going to cost. So it’s a balancing act to weigh the discount (and small risk you won’t get it) versus your need.

It is, I realise that now. A small price to pay is worth it.
