Handheld spotlight design - when is it the best option for a light?

I got into collecting the Rayovac Indestructible series of lights, and I got their handheld spotlight model from amazon. This is my first time experimenting with a spotlight, so I want to learn about it from a design point of view.

The pistol shape design seems to make aiming the light easier at targets than a standard tube shaped design. You don’t have to bend your wrists or hold your hand up in the tactical style to aim the light forward. But the spotlight is pretty heavy, so I can feel my arm getting tired if I hold it for an extended period of time.

Some spotlights have a stand that unfolds, so you can prop the spotlight up and work hands free. This Rayovac doesn’t have a stand though, so it’s best use case is by holding it.

So my question is, in what use cases is a handheld spotlight design best for?
