Some New ThorFire XHP Lights

I swear, I don't work for them!

They seem to be doing a lot of things right lately!

S70

S50

I have ordered an S70 and will do a review when it shows up. Aesthetically it reminds me of the Jax Hunter and the upcoming Convoy L6. Should be a cool light if they got the driver right.

Good ol Thorfire seem to be coming up with some nice flashlights.

The S50 looks like my fave.

Strobe is “hidden”, and no SOS function…

So the same interface as the lovely C8s hopefully.

The S70 seems to have the usual “SOS” and “STROBE” on the main mode cycle. Gagh.

interesting, for me, Thorfire seemed to just have popped up lately.
Is it filling the void that Simons move is creating? Or is it just me? (probably ;))
Nie looking lights, not for me though I agreed with myself not to go for any lights using cells in series. But looking forward to beamshots nevertheless.

You may have missed this part of the S70 description:

Dual Switch: tactical tail switch to turn on/off, click side switch to change mode: Low-Mid-High-Turbo, ! Hidden Strobe and SOS!!!

Yea, the S70,is on its way.

I like those click side switches a lot! I’m supposed to get the Convoy L4 I ordered from Mountain Electronics in the mail tomorrow.

The first light I ordered due to this forum was early last year. It was a thorfire C8, it looked like the much vaunted Convoy in quality, and indeed it was… They have had a couple of misses with some of their rebrand lights, but for the most part are very good bang for the buck. For a C8, Convoy vs Thorfire is a coin flip for me…

Simon gives very personal service, but for a company Thorfire seems to be really trying to respond to customer request and desires…

Just took another look at my S70 and I really think that the head is made of two pieces.
If you look inside the head (led side) you can see some threads (can be seen in this picture from PD68).
Also looking from the side, I can see some light right after the cooling fin, that is pointed out, and that second piece of the head.
(you must look in that corner where the arrow points to)

Yes, kawiboy confirmed this and actually posted pictures in one of the review threads. Those threads seem to be heavily glued and very hard to take apart though. I haven’t noticed any negative performance from it yet anyways.

Oh did I really missed that… :-x
Shame on me…

I completely believed it was a single-piece until kawi took it apart. The threads on the inside of the head were a bit puzzling, but I thought maybe they were planning a threaded reflector and just changed the design at one point.

nice catch… :+1:
