18650's at walmart

today I walked by the garden area where they have the solar lights and their rechargeables for them and saw a 4-pack of 18650’s. packages said 2000mah and were button tops… has anyone seen or used these? I know capacity is kinda low but I wonder if they are any good—they were either $13 or $16 for 4

I think those are probably 3 volt LifeP04 re-chargeables? The type used in solar powered products and not 3.7Volt Lithium Ion used in the majority of our lights.

nope they’re 3.7 volt. posted about them earlier

I’ll take another look, but I’m
pretty sure they said 3.7 li-ion

That would be cool. I'll definitely take a look at my local WallyWorld tomorrow.

I think the price was $13

Here are some on their web site.

how about these: Westinghouse 4pc Rechargeable Battery Set
only ones I could find local by me. They are LiFePO4

That link has all kinds of stuff. Lots of battery packs. There is a battery pack of six 18650s in parallel with a connector similar to a cordless phone, advertised as 10,800 mAh, for 13.67 USD. That would work out to 1800 mAh per cell and $2.28 each if you want to take the pack apart. No brand name.

I think these are only sold online, not at Walmart stores. Walmart is doing a kind of Amazon thing where they host different sellers on their website, but the products are sold and shipped by these vendors, not Walmart.

my local walmart has the 3.7 volt Westinghouse. they don’t look to be protected.

It’s interesting, scary actually, that they would put something that could be so potentially dangerous out there for the general consumer to purchase, with no protection circuit, etc… It would be one thing if they were selling protected cells, but unprotected cells require such specific care and handling, it’s not something that should be handed to the uninitiated, IMHO.

And the fact they have piles of knives and guns on display is another thing. Or the hunting weapons. Or the bleach. Or the liqui-tab laundry things. Or the alcohol….

“Quality” cells.

Saw these today. This is the only time I have ever seen 18650 cells in a department store or anywhere around me.

those are the ones I was talking about. located with the solar yard lights…. they don’t appear to be protected —-I’m kinda surprised

I would be scared, they are “ReCARgable”, and I have no Carger…

Just in case the unknown manufacturer didn’t raise enough concern. Check out our impeccable attention to detail!

That’s cuz you would need a Cargador para cargar sus baterias, no un “carger.”

thats spanish for rechargeable.
well 18650’s have finally hit mainstream.average joe can now buy them at walmart.its tempting to grab a pack and do a round of tests.if decent they might be ok in a pinch for less demanding items.

I see “Made in China” on the side of the battery. No thanks. Not for a li-ion.
