What batteries are these in Dell battery pack?

Cracked open a couple Dell packs. They were the same, Type U5209 11.1V 7.2Ah. One had icr18650-28a and the other had these. Marked OHKZ3D with other numbers below that which vary per cell.

Sanyo
After you take them out they will have a coloured ring on top which you can use to determine capacity

Hey Bort nice to see you around.

I don’t think those are Sanyo though. I’m not sure what they are to be honest. But the color is too light for Sanyo and the number scheme is off. Dell will often use some really off brands. They use a lot of LG cells from Korea but they don’t look to be LG either. Opening up Dell packs is fun because it’s almost always a mystery.

thanks

I have laptop pulls with those numbers and letters in the same place and the same font, they were recycled recently but were purple ring sanyo.
We can wait and see what colour ring these have for confirmation but i am quite convinced they are sanyo
Also after pulling the etching of model number and production date can be read and decoded, which will also confirm or reject my sanyo assertion.

I’ll break them down entirely later today and post them. I have 2 packs with 9 cells and 2 with 6 cells. I’m curious how many are still good

They are probably of some Sanyo 2400mAh variant based on the specs of the pack you provided. I’ve pulled UR18650Ps, FMs, FJs, and Fs with similar labeling styles on the cell wall.

AFAIK: Sanyo, 2800mAh, 4.30V

Ooooo, nice!!

They are in fact purple ring sanyos. Testing them charged to 4.2 is 2500-2550mah each which is about right considering I’m losing probably 200mah not charging to 4.35v.
