Well, maybe we are that much closer to batch two. Don’t be upset, we have all waited the good part of 4 years. This lantern is worth it

I got my code but I will be waiting for the second batch. Any idea about 2nd batch? I mean when it will be started to produced? (estimate)
I hope that it isn’t risky to wait for it. I just want a more perfect light because I am a student and my budget on flashlights are very limited.

Second Question: Can we use cashback for purchases made on Aliexpress (note that after price adjustment) ? Or it doesn’t allow cashback when price adjustment happens? Anyone knows?

Thank you for being honest & bringing this issue up Alex. This is a serous concern that people waiting on the GB list may not get their lanterns if a number of the 3000 limited GB lanterns gets sold out to quickly by random buyers. I brought this to the attention of the team and forwarded it to Barry.

Definite flaw. The usernames should be associated with email addresses or last names. If there’s not a match, purchase should be declined.

I believe someone mentioned earlier that this is Sofirn’s biggest group buy to date.

No-one’s ever perfect when they’re doing something big for the first time. I trust that Sofirn will iron out the glitches, boot out the fraudsters and make sure everyone on the interest list gets their lanterns in the end. Once that’s done, Sofirn will have a lot of good experience to use in future group buys.

I’m hoping for a long-term relationship between Sofirn and BLF, ready for whatever the next BLF project turns out to be. This is all part of getting there.

By default it should go up to about 600 lumens. Maybe 800 if you connect the extra 7135 chips by soldering some pads on the battery side of the driver. At the low end, it goes down to about half a lumen. In-between, it can do whatever you want, since it has 150 brightness steps and 254 tint blends (plus two “auto” tints).
configurable.

So the final production version has only 5 chips connected? I need maximum lumens. Is it easy to connect the other two?

Of cause. You have to connect some solder points at the battery-side of the driver.
There are 3 AMC7135 connected per channel as default and you can connect 4 more for a total of 7.

I notice that your first slot on the interest list is #648. Have you had a PM from Sofirn with your code?
Nope, but my offer on eBay included my first (of 2) slot number and name copied straight from the first page.

I don’t care either way (decent camping season ended pretty abruptly over here) – just figured I’d share what information I had.

Thank you Thumbs Up

Whilst waiting for my own PMs (first slot at #876), I’ve been trying to work out how far the PM process has got from what people are reporting here. It helps me hang onto my patience Smile

If Sofirn is only making 3000 and they are the ones who set this up and are not confirming that the buyers are actually who they say they are AND not limiting them to one per request then I think they should make as many as they need to in order to cover everyone who played by the rules.

I will be interested in hearing if Sofirn will still cover everyone on here who has played by the rules and more so those who participated in the thread donating valuable time to make the LT1 what it is.

And YES, what Alex did was what I was referring to earlier when I didn’t repeat the fact that <<<< edited >>>> and scam it.

Now this will be a giant cluster for Sofirn for allowing these loopholes when SIG had it under control.

I hope Sofirn will close this loophole asap AND make as many units as it takes to cover the legit 3000 on here since _<<< edited >>> some slipped through _…

After reading what Alex did, (use another BLF member’s name to cheat the group-buy & order two LT1s with the group-buy price) then be sly to wait until his lanterns shipped before posting what he did here I forwarded a message to Barry asking him to immediately stop the group-buy until they fix the loophole issue, I also forwarded the Posts by Alex to sb56637.

Thanks DBSAR.

I knew this would happen. I would have been less concerned IF legit GB members were just jumping line and pushing others back, but knowing that any number of the 7.7 billion people on earth with $50 in their hand could order meant that those toward the last half of the group buy would not get one at all!

Thumbs Up I agree …….. it would have been nice if they just sat back and watched how BLF would have ‘completed’ the project and use that as a ‘working’ template for their future GBs.

Fortunately, Sofirn did a 500-unit first run (instead of hammering the full 3000 out in one go), so the maximum damage is limited. The remaining 2500 can still be authenticated using whatever improved system Sofirn come up with.

Even if every single one of the first 500 lanterns had gone to fraudsters, the absolute worst case would be that Sofirn had to make an extra 500 lanterns available at the group buy price.

Me too. Thanks a lot to Sofirn and to all of our BLF members that are cultivating a good professional relationship with them.

Just because it has “shipped” doesn’t mean that it’s out of Sofirns building. My light was 4 days between “shipping” and being picked up by the carrier. Maybe they can find it in the shipment and ship it to a rightful owner. Maybe.

I don’t think the shipment can be stopped since Sofirn doesn’t know who a legit BLF user is and who isn’t. All they are going on is whether the user name is on the list or not.

I suspect that the vast majority of the batch 1 lanterns have gone (or will go) to a legit BLF user. Whether that person is in the first 500 or not is another story.

I’m hopeful that things will go much smoother after batch 1 based on some ideas we’ve been kicking around.

I think someone said Sofirn would need to associate the username with email address or last name but that is unnecessary.
They’re already associating BLF username with unique Amazon code which they are sending to BLF users as private messages.
So only thing they need to change is the approval method of Ebay and AliExpress purchases.
Instead of user telling them their BLF username, user needs to tell them their unique Amazon code.

And if they want to prevent double dipping then obviously after user completes Ebay or AE purchase they need to deactivate that code on Amazon and mark it as used in their list.

Not perfect but probably good enough for this group buy.

Yes, clearly that is one way to control things. A central database would be the most efficient means of doing this but even manual controls would work assuming everyone is in the same location and working off the same lists.

Or who has ebayed or not?

Unknown at this time, as Barry or Sofirn has not indicated to us if all of the first batch has been ordered (or codes/messages sent out for all of them) as of yet.

Just ordered mine with batteries through the Amazon AU store with coupon code, thanks to the team for putting in this massive effort to make undoubtedly the best LED lantern money can buy.

Hopefully the drama in the last few days won’t affect my order.

Will the second batch be different than the first?
I already ordered 1 (of 2 on the list#193&#361) trough ebay (is in shipping) but also have another code for amazon.de. But I would like to purchase a green colored version 2 for the groupbuy price and have someone above #500 get theirs sooner. Is that an option?

If your code has a “x” in it, try typing it out – sometimes the “x” is problemattic in a copy-paste.
