Major battery shipping issues ?

On fasttech there is not a single shipping option I can select for shipping to Sweden, they are all either “not available” or “not shipping batteries”

On banggood, the only option I can select is “priority direct mail” for $5 which seems to be valid for all batteries.

Unfortunately I think this may be a side effect of the Li-Ion ban on airlines……the adverse effects should likely be temporary, until the shipping agencies get used to the new laws, and the big scares fade.

The EASA has stricter prohibitions for LiIon traveling by air than the FAA here in the US, and since many shipments go by air (at least part of the way) that can be a problem in Europe as well as other places around the world. If a seller doesn’t have a deal set up with a ground-only shipper they may find it simpler to just not ship to those places. With all the ‘excitement’ here regarding hoverboards and LiIons I don’t think it will be long before US regulations become similar.

You are gonna have to wait till this Li-Ion scare dies down a bit. I need some new cells also but since the media is reporting they are all gonna blow up in your pocket the sheeple are scared.

Yep quite disappointing. I had just ordered something two days ago and i get this email today. Now i must find batteries elsewhere any tips? As this was the only shipping option.

Thank you for ordering from FastTech.

We feel pity to notify you that the registered airmail of Sweden Post cannot ship external batteries (including power banks) temporarily due to there are batteries or power banks exploded during shipping via Sweden Post recently.

“FastTech is now looking for a new shipping service to ship external batteries or power banks. If you prefer to wait for the new shipping service, we will ship your order via the new shipping service once the service is ready.

If you don’t want to wait, we would like to suggest you to cancel the external batteries or power banks from your order. We can ship the rest items via other available registered airmail, such registered airmail of Singapore Post. If you prefer to cancel the entire order, we will issue refund immediately. Please kindly let us know your choice as soon as possible.

Shall you have any other requests about your orders, please also feel free to let us know by replying to this ticket. We will arrange as soon as possible.

Sincerely apologize for any inconveniences caused. Thank you for your understanding.

Jenny

Now I’ve to buy locally

I’d like a massage from Banggood…. O:-)

My BASEN 26650 order was canceled also. >:-#

Ahhhhhh!
So I’ll reorder…
Thanks for the info Martin

How long does it take for items to come from convoy on alliexpress? I have ordered 2 c8, and two ncr18650 for a friend.
it shipped Monday, and I still can not get tracking to work anywhere, it says allow 5-10 days to track. does this seem normal, or are the batteries tossing a wrench into the process?

Same here, I ordered some lithium batteries (delivery to the UK) from Fasttech and the only delivery option was Sweden Post.

on some occasions, battery shipping (from other shops) took more than 2 months. Guess they were shipped by boat.

I’ve been purchasing from locally within the EU when it comes to batteries. It’s more reliable and has been for some time.

The reason this is an issue is that there are new IATO regulations coming into effect which prohibit shipping lithium batteries as cargo on passenger planes, meaning that the only way to transport lithium batteries via air is on dedicated cargo planes. And I would guess that many shipping firms make use of cheaper shipping via cargo on passenger planes rather than booking space on dedicated cargo flights. This will take some time for shipping firms to sort out.

Do you have any recommendations for good places to order from in the EU?

www.nkon.nl and www.akkuteile.de seem to work quite well, and for the UK someone called “”big_f_d_d” - big_f_d_d on eBay. Shipping is faster, and you don’t run the risk of re-wraps (at least nowhere near the same level of risk).

Thanks a lot, I have bookmarked them for future spending sprees
