If that is what I think it is, it will provide amazing sustained brightness/size paired with a well regulated driver, can’t wait to know more!

Yesterday I received an order from kiriba-ru (1 Copper pill triple Convoy S2+ – custom retaining ring, both pill and ring have milled cuts; 1 Copper spacer for Carclo triple Convoy S2+). Took 21 days to arrive at my house (Portugal), tracked package.

I’ll use these for 1 or 2 triple builds I’m planning.
Just wanted to show some pics in order to compare it with a regular S2+ Pill, as it may be useful for those intending to make a mod Wink

Quality is excellent and this really got me pumped to get the rest of the components, as I think this pill will be a beast in functions Cool

Some points I’d like to mention:
- The retaining rings are different, but each one fits perfectly the other pill, no threading problems;
- The pill fits perfectly on the 4 Convoy S2+ I have, threading perfectly as well;
- The spacer is solid and well built, and will imply a mod in the “regular” pill (drilling its center for the wires), but they match perfectly.

I want to thank to kiriba-ru for the nice work done in here! Keep it up Wink

Q8 parts progress:
Extended height positive driver rings – will be ready soon.
1.5mm thick brass tail board – machining will be ready in a month. Searching proper way for some coating that will protect board from extra solder and specify place where springs should be placed. No simple ways to do this. Sad
12x led kit – does anyone need it when MF-01 is available? – aluminium sample #1 will be ready soon, aluminium sample #2 in work, thinking about copper version, thinking about optics holder (upper part) coating, trit slots etc.

Actual situation:
1.5mm thick brass tail board – in progress (will be ready in a week)
stainless steel hex tail screws – on the slowboat from China
hex wrenches – on the fastboat from the US
Golden plated springs – on the slowboat from China
I still not sure that using brass board without isolating most surfaces is safety decision. But applying solder mask to each would take so much time that Ill probably never finish it.
Plactic inserts inside stock positive driver ring (mechanical reverse protection) – still dont have enough information about different button tops: http://budgetlightforum.com/comment/1220983#comment-1220983
12x led kit wont be available, have another idea but it will probably goes to the new “tax choise” method described in the end of this post: http://budgetlightforum.com/comment/1228826#comment-1228826

I will ask those who are interested in VG-10 quad to open your hosts and specify which version do you have:
1) imagebam.com
Old version from one of chinese websites. Head internal surfaces are complete anodized (no shiny machined surfaces), o-ring between reflector and stock glass lens. Bezel is flat from bottom.

2) imagebam.com
Medium version from amazon deals. Head is machined inside, o-ring around glass lens (between bezel and reflector). Bezel have rim so glass enters inside bezel.

3) imagebam.com
Epic fail version from thorfire GB. Extra aluminium disc and LB pcb under main pcb.

4) imagebam.com
Shadow VG10

Still make these?

Right.
I cant see this driver backsides with 4 independent cell contacts. I immediatly imagine big badaboom. Also, I cant understand how do Lexel and others plan to fix tube in right position – which is necessary with 2 screw holes in driver (ie you cant rotate driver to proper position to align cells).
I didnt found any simple ways to make 2s/4s mod safety. Im going to:
- reverse battery tube.
- use stock tail pcb place (now it is faced to the driver) for medium board (#1 for 4s or #2 for 2s), so you could turn tube in head without any short-circuit risk
- make custom tail. With deeper threads (stock tail wont allow to screw all down to the head side tube threads) and with place for custom tail board (#3)
- make custom tail insert that have “pins” which could fix between cells and rotate (together with tail board) inside custom tail

What if the personal wanting to know the measurement does not have a 30Q BT at hand?

The difference on mine is 1.5 mm

I suppose I listed enough information why did I had to ask this question.
I had lots of button top cells, and many lights with mechanical reverse protection. Not any combination could work.
