Lumintop Tool question...

I really like the look of this light, but that wart of a switch boot! Can a smaller boot be put in to allow it to tail stand???

There is a twisty version with a flat tail. I think it also have a magnet.

I put a XP-L V6 1A and a fet in one but never messed with the tailcap. I traded it to another member. It also had a twisty tail with a magnet but I wouldn’t recommend putting that in your pocket if you mod it…activates too easily.

The Ti version has a flat switch at the bottom and can tail stand. It’s also way more expensive.

Wish I could justify Ti or good coppers.

my favorite AAA light, aways running on a 10440.

Saypat, which is your favorite? Then Ti, Cu or Aluminum?

yea, would surely like them ALL, but only have the aluminum. Don’t get me started or I’ll have to get a Ti and a Cu >-) and I’m trying to QUIT!

(like that EDC of yours, does it have both hosts? Blue lighted tailcoat?)

No, my edc is a grey S2+, so no matching short tube… I wish I could get one that matched. It is a very old version of the lighted tailcap with blue leds’ that are driven fairly hard so that it does not have to be completely dark to see it. I think I am getting about 31 ma through the pair of resistors. I would have had the tool long ago, but I almost demand tail standing for anything I might EDC. I may end up with the aluminum, just to see if I can make it tail stand in some way.

Titanium is gorgeous and light, but doesn’t conduct heat well at all; copper is gorgeous (if you like patina) and conducts heat very well, but is VERY heavy. Stainless steel is like the worst of titanium and copper: heavy, and doesn’t conduct heat well. For high-output AAA keychain lights, especially on 10440, aluminum is still your best bet.

I have a twist to turn on version. Magnet tail cap. It is very tiny! Stands horizontal no problem from metal.

I think the tailcap switch looks much worse in photos than it is in person. But of the three, I end up carrying the aluminum at work. I have had both the AL and CU turn on in my pocket with a 10440, But you will know it’s on within 60 seconds! :stuck_out_tongue:

The flat Ti switch is perfect though, wish they were available for all versions. I find the twist tailcap works better if you leave it tight and crack the head loose to turn it off. But I rarely use it, if you want a twisty just get an astrolux from the group buy, half the price of the tool and it comes with the nichia emitter.
