Kronos Group Buy/SE Watch 2/19/17 - First Rendering!

This is an early rendering of the automatic dive watch we are working on. Exact specs are not available at this time. Price is not yet available. Much of this has to do with the final spec, and whether we move forward on some cool technical features we are trying to make happen.

I can share with you a couple of specs that we are looking heavily at, but nothing is set is stone…yet:

Pepsi Bezel, SS 316L case, Crown Guard, Black wave-pattern dial, Date wheel (black) to match dial with white numbers, Diver-Orange Tritium indices (1-11 o’clock), Dual Ice-Blue Tritium 12 o’clock indice, Ice-Blue Tritium Hour hand and Minute hands, Sapphire crystal, Magnified date window, 43mm case.

This is the preliminary graphic design for our dive watch. There will be at least one other cool design feature that other watches do not have…details to be released later. How’s that for a tease? Thoughts?

OK…the driver design wasn’t as desirable as I thought…therefore the search continues. So far though, the Carnival Trit watch seems to be the most popular. Several folks have already ordered one. Hopefully we’ll get an idea of how they perform soon.

4/4/16

What if we could do something like this?

It shows what a watch would look like with a face designed like a driver (BLF user xcentric’s idea). I’ve always admired Richards SRK driver design, so I wondered what that would look like…and JohnnyMac put it together…graphically…anyway! Thanks!

What do y’all think?

3/30/16

It looks like there is enough initial interest to start a list. See bottom of OP:

This is not a commitment to a specific watch. It is a gauge to see if we can meet minimum numbers on an existing watch, or perhaps generate enough interest to produce a uniquely designed timepiece.

Please post/speak up if you are interested!

Thanks,
krono

I DIG watches and would LOVE to eventually do a boxed set that includes…say…an EDC light, watch…maybe also an EDC knife, pen etc. I think it would make an awesome gift item. :sunglasses:

But, I don’t want to put the cart before the horse. I would like to gauge interest and see if there would be enough demand. To start out with, I’m thinking of doing a GB on an existing watch, and would appreciate some info, to set the stage and let manufacturers know what kind of power BLF has. :crown: So…some thoughts please?:

What style?
Pricepoint?
Features?
Brands?
Auto/quartz?
Band type?

Maybe I should post a poll…but it would have a lot of questions…not sure if this site’s polling function is capable of doing that…

I will probably try to get a watch forum involved as well. Maybe watchuseek, like a cross-forum deal.

I realize I am opening Pandora’s watch box, but it is time to let your opinions fly

I’m in.

I like analog ones myself.

I’d be happy with $80-100 or so?

The folks over at MVMT make some pretty nice, affordable ones. I picked up their first one off mass drop a couple years ago and love it. They seem like a neat company who might be interested in this sort of thing?

I’m in!

I’m interested as a gift for the next new year. Don’t know anything about watches so no help from me  .

Interesting idea. My thoughts:

Style: Modern

Price: $100

Brand: I tend to buy Seiko and Citizen in this price range, but no real preference.

Movement: Solar or quartz. (I don’t care for self-winders or kinetic-motion watches because of their limited run times, they typically die within 2 or 3 days if left motionless. I’ve gotten rid of all of mine.)

Band: Leather or steel, no preference. They each have their merits.

Features: Minimum 30M water resistant (100M preferred), day/date. Rotating bezels are useful. Perpetual calendar would be nice, but probably not within this price range. Alarms are generally useless (and obsolete when compared with cell phone alarms). I would tend to dispense with chronometer and other timer functions for the same reason (cell phones perform much better).

EDIT: I forgot the GITD hands, especially the sweep hand, and hour markers.

hmmm maybe something from Orient?

The only two things I can visualise with a little flashlight are one of those paracord bracelet watches or as an extra item on that Leatherman thing.

I wear a watch when I want to dress up, matching the rings and suit. I only have metal round classical designed watches.
Can’t imagine anything full of trinkets ever slide on my wrist but am curious what you are going to get Kronos on now

I love a good watch!

But my ideal watch does not exist: a stylish looking digital watch with stopwatch/timer/alarm, everything simple to operate and all displayed together, because I use it all often (I don’t like the ‘Casio UI’ with all button having many functions and toggling through modes, it is a misty mess). But the real difficult part: the digits must be backlighted, not a few seconds operated by a button, but continuous dim lighting. That may require a rechargable battery, like the smartwatches, to be charged once a month (btw, smartwatches are all ugly imo and have too many functions).

Sofar my ideal watch, but if there’s a group buy on a nice watch, I’m in if I like it.

Great idea Crono! Brand? Timex! Its a US based company, it should be easy for you to deal with them , hehe  They goes for relatively cheap, Bush had those while he was a president.

Stainless steel, waterproof, solid - BLF logo: great, i will buy several

Digital and stylish are very hard to mix, there have been a few smartwatches that tried to mimic the style of old fashioned watches but there it ends.

Sigh, here I was hoping for
AAA X4 / 26650 X7
Followed by
LRxx X3 / dual 18650/26650 X8

Certainly interested….I have gotten into diver style automatics recently.

Something along the lines of the Orient Mako USA model but with a larger diameter….and hacking movement would be ideal for this guy.

Things I like about the Mako USA is the sapphire crystal…solid endlinks…120 click dial bezel……enhanced luminent.

The Kronos Kollection. I like it.

Something like this!

Neep!

How about a large deep carry flipper instead.

Good watch won’t be budget for sure.
Mike

I’m okay up to $350.

I prefer analog, and like automatic, however quartz is fine to fit a price point and popular Vote.

Size, 39-44mm, hopefully less than 14mm thick.

Trits are nice but likely too expensive, so good lume please.

I’m pretty open on other options.

A nice simple style that is easy to read. I personally have dive, pilot, and field watches.

Don’t like nylon (nato) bands but good on anything else.

Hopefully these are helpful suggestions.

Edit: no alarm or chrono unless it’s digital. A Kronos chrono?

I think, a bargain-knife would be better (because cheaper :D)

Mechanical watch (auto or not) i may be in, analog quartz no thanks. (some chinese movement from Seagull especially are very reliable and less expensive than ETA)

Personally, I like Timex Expedition digital watches.

Hmmm, there’s chinese tritium nowadays, with claim of Ronda movement and saphire crystal…
