Smallest lightest AAA flaslight being sold?

Hi all,

Like the title says, I need to have the smallest lightest AAA I can find. Weight is a very key item here. Single mode low output would be fine, but with modes is OK too. Bright orange or similar would be a plus. This will be an emergency backup light for hiking.

Thanks in advance.

Ultrafire UF-T1 or Ti10 or a DQG AAA are the smallest lightest i know of.
You wouldn’t notice either with a disposable lithium cell inside.
You can’t run the stock version UF-T1 on Li-Ion cells, will burn out.
I just modified the UF-T1 today with an XM-L emitter and a 10mm FET driver. Tiny Cricket }

The Astrolux A01 comes in orange, and while light, will weigh more than the others. Nichia 219B 4000k, great moonlight and longer than advertised medium runtime, a high of 100 lumen and a hidden strobe…

Downside, occasional quality issues seen to crop up with some of the lights received. Flickering and loose pills seem to be the biggest, nothing you couldn’t fix as you are experienced.

Less than $9 with code ReManGA01 at Banggood

No clip, just a lanyard hole…

I know grams add up, but what is the upper limit you are looking for weight wise?

The Olight I3E is single mode and the I3S has three modes

That Astrolux is a beauty, man oh man that copper special you are working on, YAMMIE!

Weightwise, the itp A3 is only 9g.
That would be my choice if weight is most critical factor.

Maybe a photon on zipper pull as backup…

My smallest 1xAAA light I have is a 4sevens Preon P0 (now called the Atom A0). It’s not much bigger than a AAA cell. 2 modes: moonlight and 25 lumens. It’s a mule, so pure flood. I think it may be the smallest AAA light on the market.

While size is the benefit, I don’t really like the light because I don’t find the quality very good. It tends to flicker on high, and tightening the pill has not helped. Also, it’s very easy for the head to screw/unscrew in your pocket or on your keys, which is very bad for a pocket light. And, tint is a very cold cool white (yuck). IIRC, I think it’s around $25. Not very good value, IMO.

As mentioned earlier, the Astrolux A01 with the Nichia 219 LED is a much better buy. Still pretty small, and the tint and color rendition of the Nichia 219 LED will blow you away. Quality seems decent, though sometimes mode-switching might skip. There are three modes: moonlight, 7 lumens, 100 lumens. This is really well spaced, IMO, and all modes are very useful. Around $10. Excellent value at that price.

If you are looking a smaller size can check Klarus Mi X5 AAAA.
I’m glad have it.

Just recieved the D.Q.G Tiny AAA Stainless Steel in neutral white.
12.8mm x 58.1mm
It’s even 5mm smaller than the DQG Slim AAA that I did sport on my keychain for the past year and the Tiny is now my EDC.
This Tiny AAA is tighten-for-off, which I highly appreciate over the earlier versions which were turned on by tightening.

If lightweight hiking is your thing, you can practice using your AAA in your headband bandanna, it takes a few times to figure out how to get it right, but it works.

When hiking, I carry:

  • Primary flashlight (the main flashlight I intend on using).
  • Secondary flashlight (usually a thrower, but not always).
  • Emergency flashlight (usually handed out to someone else in the group whose flashlight fails).

And I keep a Streamlight Nano attached to my backpack.

Check out the fenix CL05, might be just the thing for ya

Any update VOB? Interested to hear what your selection was.

I have a D.Q.G Tiny AAA Ti, it is the smallest AAA light I own, not much bigger than the eneloop I feed it. The Astrolux is a nice light too! I carry a AAA light almost exclusively , usually a Maratac AAA Copper (only because I lost the clip to my D.Q.G.). The Maratac is a very nice light as well.

To those who has dqg tiny, is there a tail clicky version or all of them are twisty? Thank you. ill appreciate if you can provide link.

Nextorch K1 claims that it ‘may’ be the smallest AAA flashlight in the world !!!

If you are in the USA, then a Maglite Solitaire LED has to be a sensible candidate, due to the price, performance and availability. Can also be had in lots of colours.

It’s maybe a little longer than some, but it’s very narrow, hardly any wider than the AAA battery. Output and tint on mine are superb too and the variable focus beam is extremely versatile. It’s my most used AAA torch.

I haven’t quite decided yet. I have to keep reminding myself this will only be a back up light. I see all this candy and I think of all the stuff I can do with them…… I’m getting close to a choice though.

Smallest diameter AAA will be the Solitaire, but the BLF 348 and the Tank 007 TK 703 are close. 348 is stainless (heavy), TK703 has a throwy and ringy beam pattern, it would do well if you want a thrower.

Given it’s only a few grams difference, any lightweight model you like should serve you well enough so I’d go for that as much as absolute lowest weight- might as well have a light you like.

I made a video of my favorites. Maybe not the smallest but I think some of the best.
