My first one was a FandyFire UV-S5 3xXML almost three years ago… Real woaw factor! Still one of my favorite.
Not long after that I also got a 7xXML TrustFire i think. Colder but still impressive.
And then, end of last year, i decide to order another UV-S5 to gift a friend… and i got faint ice cold LatticeBright leds. The light died after less then an hour runtime anyway!
I still love the concept. But i don’t trust any clone out there now.
Well the answer seems to be no to the OP.
But I got my 6 SRKs and bought them at AliExpress thinking they were good. They weren’t so I started disputes and good sellers who were not aware of the fake LB LEDs could keep $2,50 to cover shipping. In the end I paid $1,70 on average for them. And for that money heck yeah a great host despite the problems
Got 3 V2 RMM drivers with moon, 2 x V1 DIY RMM drivers and a ramping driver on the way from a fellow BLFer.
3 Nichia 219Bs to use with the ramping as first real mod.
Stock I can say the Uniquefire 1401 is very impressive. Excellent cooling, display, solid feel and the best mode spacing of all my lights with a LOW slightly higher then moon, a very bright HIGH and MED nicely in between, I use it a lot.
Yes is that a good one?
I have two with the same looking driver and these are notable less quality, threads rough and one stopped working after half an hour. No biggie for me because of the modding plans.
And this one had Cree LEDs?
Good find then!
Nope it aint, the emitters are just hella bad Cree copy, the driver is nothing special, the body is painted( not oxidized) and the inner emitter`s MCPCB is floating in the air not even contacting the body
For those SRK fans arround here, i could suggest THIS ONE
Cheap, the best throw , the emitter`s MCPCB does contact with the body, easy moddable too- 3 x u2 3D emitters and voila, you have a desent SRK, even betted with a Roshe ramping firmware, a fet dd driver and Noctigon 16mm mcpcbs
Plus those that i got so far were unbranded: i realy love unbranded hosts
Does that light have a solid shelf or just an aluminum plate spanning a big hole? How do you bust an SRK beyond repair? If it is an old one, do you want to part with it?
I would love one more of the old lights, I would make it in domed 4C XM-L2’s and be very happy with it. I have one of the GB RMM drivers begging for a home, may never get to use it in an SRK, may have to pick up the Supfire that Richard sells. My current one is de-domed XP-G2’s. I might even do something silly like 2 219b’s and a 4C XM-L2.
The last one of those I got had real XM-L2s, screw-in shelf, good machining & finish (the battery tube o-ring actually touches the ID of the head, amazing!). No branding as a bonus.
Same question… How long ago?
Some of those clones where good two or three years ago, as was the FandyFire UV-S5 i mention in the OP, but they are not necessarily the same that ship now.
I wonder why you you even care about emitters inside when a great U2 3D is 2.5$ ? The best ones are 3 or 4 emitter ones, so it will bump your price with 20$ including noctigons and the fet driver +some handlywork
Since SRK are one of my favourite lights what do you think guys of a CU pill for it? I have a machinist + nice Cu rod here…that idea is in my head for some time now… of course it will be made for a SRK/SRk clone that we sellect as best for our needs
THIS one isnt bad as a host too, its only that :fandyfire: engraving bugs me a bit :sunglasses:
I’m totally in for the idea of some CU inside. The problem is, the chances that everyones SRK has differing internal measurements are high. So, you would possibly be making custom one-offs?
