Definitely. Production runs, especially on budget items, will have a different pace of assembly, and often parts will be substituted that may not be of equal quality. I don’t judge that by itself. Mainstream brands and huge companies do that too, and sometimes fail.

I don’t mind if my Q8s turn out somehow unfinished. Budget lights I buy will go through a fine tuning process anyway.

Sorry guys for a dumb question are we still taking orders for the Q8 been out of the loop for a few months in and out of the hospital so did not have time to read all the new posts yet. How where to place order and how much for it. Never saw a final price. Forgive me for not having the energy to read through all the posts I will get around to in the next few weeks.

If you signed up, should have gotten a pm with a code. The Q8 is $40 shipped US, and I think it's still taking orders but supposed to expire today I think, so hurry!!

Would like to say I ordered my two about 2050 central standard time on Sept. 7th. I haven’t received either one yet and I don’t mind

one tiny little bit. I would much rather get mine in good working order than to get them right away and have them not be right. Does anyone know if rosin core solder can be used to solder blob batteries? That’s the only kind I have right now.

Not a flashlight guru, but like them just the same.

Mine will be waiting for me when I get home from work.

To be truly honest, I don’t even care if it has switch problems, because I know The Miller will sort out the guys that have faulty units. If I could have known this ahead of time I’d have just ordered later and got one from the later (delayed) batch that are guaranteed to not have any switch / screw problems.

Ahh well, fingers crossed.

You got your batteries all charged up in anticipation of Q8 arrival?
Sux you had to wait my friend… but it will be worth it.
Plus, you won’t (most likely) have to deal with any of the minor first 500 issues.
The Q8 design / technical team knocked it out of the park. Wink

I got my second Q8 in, light works fine, switch leds work and are not far off in brightness. Out of the box, no cleaning or anything, with 30Q’s at 30 seconds: 5370 lumen. I remember the original goal of making a 4000 lumen BLF-SRK and am proud of how good we have made it, no matter the imperfections.

Why is one of the Switch LEDs Orange and the other Green?

A minor glitch, suddenly when I woke up it was orange, must be a first production run model.

PM send
If code doesn’t work anymore, you contact M4DM4X for his code and I pay the difference between $40 and his price.

First 500 of new Q8 ready.
Production in full swing again.
Confirmed shipping via Banggood warehouse to cope with the coming holiday.

Wait, so is the indicator light ever supposed to be orange/yellow? Are there supposed to be more colours than just green?

Flashlight B:
  • I would estimate brightness is a tad (maybe 20%) dimmer than light “A”, but that might be partially attributed to a slightly yellower tint.
  • The screw heads under the tailcap are mildly stripped, though still usable.
  • There are two gouges around the switch that have been not so gracefully painted over.
  • The fit between tube and head is as good as any light I own.
  • Out of the box, the switch light worked normally except for as a locator. However, when I enabled locator through the Advanced Config UI, it began to work perfectly. After that, the short cut worked as expected. Initially, I made not changes to the light. Out of the box, the locator setting was disabled.

I’d really like to see these photos, especially the painted gouges, and my “open image in new tab” trick isn’t working on yours. Could you reshare them somewhere that works, like imgur? Or if nothing else just give us a link directly to your Q8 photo album. I’m pretty sure we can still see the images on photobucket, just not embedded in other sites like this.

emarkd,

I posted the images on Imgur and updated my post: Original Post

So when Banggood said “ “Expect ship in:Sep.26,2017 – Oct.08,2017” for my last order they weren’t joking Smile

I am impressed, from stopping the line (what date was that ?) Recognising and investigating the issues, re-designing and manufacturing new switch PCBs including procuring new components, maybe sourcing some new fasteners, reviewing assembly procedures, building the next batch of 500 and getting them over to Banggood to despatch, took how many days ?

Nobody knows.
If the next 500 lights are ready they will probably start shipping today or in the next days, but that’s just a guess.
We’ll know when people start to report shipping notice emails from BG.
However, there is a big holiday coming in China, so even if it’s shipped, it may well stay put for a while as most of the country will be off work.
