Soo… right before bed last night, BOOM, my Q8s are now shipped! WooHoo! I was sad thinking I wouldn’t get one before Halloween. Now I will be able to blind all the punks in the park in one fell swoop…

Today I also finally received my Q8. It´s a great light so a BIG thanks to the development team. The little imperfections with mine are of centered LEDs, unequally bright Switch LEDs, the dirty contact ring and a fingerprint on the glass lens. Nevertheless, it is an awesome flashlight. Especially for this price it is a hell of a deal.
We regret to inform you that we can not ship your order to an address containing “P.O. Box”. Could you please send us your shipping address by filling in the fields listed here below?
Oh the humanity! More delay.
I don’t ever recall a “PO Box” issue before with BG or any other Asian shop. But it sounds like my Q8 is getting closer.
Got the emails from BG last night saying my two Pre Orders were Shipped…..
… Which means LABELCREATED(I’m sure for mine anyway PO’s in 1680’s & 1750’s).
Be interesting to see when they really do ship… before or after the upcoming Chinese Holiday. Either way is good. Glad to see how fast TF worked this out.

That is strange. Did you do some type expedited shipping?? Or the free that comes through FEDEX SmartPost. (in the case of the GB Q8’s anyway)
I have never had a problem with delivery to a PO Box with Smart Post.
Oh well…. who knows.

I can’t find a way to remove reflector screw on my Q8.
It’s badly stripped and so tight I broke only screwdriver I have that can “fit”
Suggestions?

My Q8 do also have that button LED thing going on, but really it dont bother me one bit, but if it do that one day i will just fix it and be done with it.
I am going to do a little modding on it to amp it up a little more, but i am in no hurry with that, first i will enjoy it as is

Did you use a screwdriver or a driver with replaceable bits? Try a brand new bit which has sharp edges.
You can also try adding a rubber band to get extra grip. Apply heavy downward pressure and twist.
Can it be gripped by vice grips?
You may need to use a dremel or similar tool to cut a slot in the head, then use a flat blade screwdriver.
I tried both with no success. Both were new. Screwdriver tip broke when trying.
I don’t have vice grips like that, but will try to find them if I have to.
Will try dremel tomorrow, i give up today.
It’s dark now and I want to see the light

Please elaborate a bit on “that button LED thing”? Maybe a pic?
I see in the OP it mentions that lube may be required. Can anyone recommend lube suitable for the Q8’s threads, especially products available in Australia? Thanks.

Try applying the tip of a very hot soldering iron to the screw head for about one and a have minutes and then use the Miller’s rubber band technique.
They could have put glue on the threads.
stephenk, I can’t help with Aussie products, but I use a DOW silicone grease that works fine, I think it was The Miller who suggested SuperLube. It’s not the Space Shuttle where it can’t be done wrong or else.
My 3rd and final Q8 (gift for my son) arrived yesterday. After a quick strip-down, clean, lube & reassembly I can report that everything is perfect except for the switch LED's, it has the uneven brightness "problem". I have a feeling he'll want them changing to either blue or white like I'll be doing mine so a non-issue really.
On a side note, I gave my daughter's BF my 2nd Q8, 4 button-top 30q's & a Lii-500 earlier today for his birthday and he was chuffed to bits, he's really impressed.
It really does make for a fantastic gift, many thanks again for all involved in making this concept a reality!

I don’t know that this is available in Australia Sil-Glyde , but you can find it in any auto parts store, here in the US. I read a flashlight article a few years ago, where this was mentioned. I just happened to have some in my toolbox. I haven’t used anything since.

Try a local Ford dealer parts department. This XG-12 electrical grease is supposedly Nyogel 760G repackaged for Ford. 3oz tube was $15 dollars at my local dealer.
I ordered my Q8 on the 12th. According to the numbers a few pages back, I think it should have been in the “third” set of 500 lights. I just checked my account, and it’s marked as shipped, but the note says “Shipment information sent to FedEx”. So, I dunno. That’s kinda weird. Maybe they’re just pre-printing all the labels?

UPDATE: since i received my other two Q8s (second pair came day after the first pair, but got my hands on it only from Monday)
Out of 4:
First came non-lubed, uneven beacon LEDs, beacon LEDs stopped working next morning, has switch contact issue rarely
Second came well lubed, even beacon LEDs, beacon LEDs do work, has very ofter switch contact issue
Third came OK lubed, uneven beacon LEDs, beacon LEDs do work, no switch contact issues yet after 3 days
Fourth came non-lubed, even beacon LEDs, beacon LEDs do work, no switch contact issues yet after 3 days
switch contact issue video (FLASH) → http://tinypic.com/r/2rpqid5/9 you can hear clicks but it won’t turn off at random positions of flashlight

as you may see it’s a matter of angle, at some angles it just won’t turn off… and when i rotate the angle just a bit it will turn off, and turn on
This won’t happen on the last 2 flashlights that i got, so I’m sure it’s not timing

We got NASA in today - they want to see the Q8.
I hope it's not because of complaints from the space station or somethin.

That is an interesting find RobertB, How did you find out that XG-12 = Nyogel 760g?
It tried looking up the MSDS for XG-12 but doesn’t appear to disclose what is it,
Here is the MSDS of XG-12
