Ooooh, I am eager to see a detailed comparison to the XP-G2. I’ve been waiting for this LED anxiously since I became a bona fide flashaholic.

Thanks.
I’ll be interested to hear what you think when you have some in hand.

And they said the XML was only 3A.

The other thread about the XP-G3 can be for all of the cynics, this one can be for all of the optimists.

When they are available we will know!

Mark, will you be getting the highest CRI (90) XP-G3 too?, They come in all available tints according to the Cree announcement, but 4000-5000K would be most interesting I think (my personal sweetspot is 3500K but I’m not average). If they are good, that will be a new and formerly unlikely niche for Cree

Yes will will be getting R3 flux in Min 90 in 4000,4500 and 5000k
Cheers
Mark

I suspect that I will soon do my first order at Cutter

If the testing is good, I’d think there would be many people interested in 4500k and 5000k 90cri.

Groupbuy?

We’re not talking Orams here. These are Cree emitters. As soon as they’re released, they’ll be as common as fleas on a dog.

Still, a Group buy may result in a lower price. Even if they’re as common as fleas, they aren’t free as fleas.

I’m sure the XP-G3’s in general will be, but there are 90cri XHP’s that I would still have to go to Mouser for, and they were released quite awhile ago. I’m interested in those specific varieties of the XP-G3.

And yes there are the cost savings, like when Richard got a reel of the 219c’s and did a killer sale.

I would like to know the size of the actual die itself, and the cd per square millimeter.
And if they dedome as easy as the XP G2.

If their throw performance is better then the XP G2 my 844Kcd Nitecore TM36 Lite needs a new led :innocent:

Lower vf and higher output? Sounds perfect for quads!

Wow, I don't see a downside so far. No bond wires? Nothing to melt at 8A? Interesting...

Can be ordered today looks like. Thanx Mark!!

From the Cutter email:

$25.00 shipping (estimate?) for (4) bare XPG-3 LED’s? :money_mouth_face: I’ll wait! :frowning:

I just did my first ever Cutter order (XP-G3’s S5, XP-G3’s 90CRI, and some other little stuff), the shipping costs were steep, but it will be DHL-sent and I’m looking forward to see their performance compared to other leds

Mark, are these already in stock, and if not, do you any idea when can I expect them to be shipped?

If there is enough interest I could probly do a group buy from Cutter. I’m thinking the price would be some were around $2 per emitter. US shipping would be $2.75 ish?

I’d be in for 5 of the 4500k 90cri variant
