The deep carry clip is black and can’t be changed (polished) without redesigning the light. There’s always the bolt on stainless clip. I’m not a fan of it personally but some people like it. Clear ano with the standard stainless button is easy enough though.

Clear boot, for a lighted tailcap! Why isn’t this one of the choices? :/

Simon is the one who stocked the clear boots for all you light-up guys so that wouldn’t be a problem if you’re ordering directly from Simon you could probably have that swapped out with a simple message in your order if the majority wants a rubber boot. This was really meant to be more about the metal switch color choice for a clear anodized version in my mind but that is why I made it a poll. If more people want a rubber switch than the metal one that can probably happen but lets not forget this picture from emarkd… I’m surprised that’s not desired more than a clear boot in the case of the S2+ but I’m just one opinion.

Of course I’d assume emarkd would also be in my camp based on those photos but who knows…

Wow these look amazing Smile

no problem with black clip, I love the clear ano and SS switch. Also going to wait for clear L6!

Apparently Halo, not as many as I would have thought. Still Simon is working on making it happen for the Desert Tan S2+ so if there’s enough interest maybe it could just be made a selectable option like an emitter change as Dwantink suggested. I like that idea too. Beer

Yea, bit of a surprise. I would have thought the fact that stainless steel and clear anodizing don’t really match would lead more people toward black.

Oh well. Whichever people prefer. Hopefully, the poll results are a good representation of what will sell best. You know, sight unseen.

I hope they are too. If given the opportunity I will post pictures of the clear S2 with the black switch and the regular switch side-by-side. That would be much better than my words.

I like the idea of a option for the tail cap switch. to make it cost effective add a dollar to the choice, SS, black or rubber. Build 30% black, 30% rubber and 40% SS and see what sells best. I would pay a dollar to get my choice. Many would not! Maybe a bad idea?

I don’t think it’s a bad idea but I don’t know if Simon would go for it or not. A choice between metal switch colors seems reasonably doable but to go with a rubber switch requires a completely different tail. I’m not sure if he’d want to do two different versions.

I like the simple silicon boot better: it feels better, looks better, you can use dimmer leds if a lighted tailcap is made (messes less with the driver), and it is more waterproof.

I understand your thinking. I don’t agree on the looks part but I respect your opinion. I do like the light up tailcaps and while I understand they shine brighter and are more beacon-worthy with a translucent switch boot I love the way the subtle glow looks in the SS switch even though I know it’s less efficient. Honestly I’m completely torn on this issue. I really like the clear switch boot as shown in the clear sample. That said, only 25% voted for the rubber boot. The stainless switch is unique in a field where too many lights look alike. That’s another reason I pushed for the black stainless switch. It’s unique.

Hello all,

I hope I have posted in the correct area, but may I ask if Convoy has decided on a switch style for the clear S2+ yet?

If not, I would like to say I prefer the rubber style switch boot. The design is overall simpler and proven, and one can change the boot colours easily and cheaply if they like Big Smile

I’m a very big fan of Shenzhen Convoy Electronics Co, own many of your lights and given many as gifts. Will be sure to buy a couple of these clear S2+ when they come out. (regardless of which style switch Convoy release and hoping for the clear shorty 18350 tube too)

Thanks for what you are doing for the community Simon.

Best regards,

Michael

Welcome to BLF, eggmang! And with a nice message too.

(interesting: how come your post count is 0, while you clearly posted something? )

Thank you djozz,

I enjoy reading the articles from the community here. Was a collector of Maglite and hi current Ni-Cd cells many years ago and have started collecting lights again. I also collected many Fenix lights and AA eneloops but once I discovered “bang for buck” and customer service of Convoy it meant Fenix collecting ceased.

Clear convoy S2+ with clear rubber switch boot, black clip and 18350 tube would be a cracking light.

Michael

I think the SS button (especially with that ring of light) looks best by far.
I don’t think it’ll mismatch with clear anodization, it’s just a different tinted metal.
Pity there’s no plain SS clip though.
Don’t know what material the black clip is, but maybe strip the black paint off?

..waiting for parts..

Still looking for 5” parabolic reflector (for recoil light)

In this particular case it should stay with the SS switch. It is what will set it off . Making a black piston switch would be a waist and would diminish the overall look . I have no issue with installing one of Simon’s new black clips on it, as it would balance out the light. Just enough black to set off the flashlight!

Those that care to go with lighted tail cap can still do so if needed. It does look nice lighted.

I respect everyone’s opinion but this poll was started May 1st and ran for 3 weeks before it closed. The results were given to Simon. You can continue to discuss of course but please understand the voting part is over. Simon went with a black steel switch for the first run. His company…his choice. Other switch options may come later. There are still several things to be worked out before the light is released. When I have a confirmed release date I will start a thread for the new light.

Well, I’m eagerly awaiting the clear S2+ w/ black piston switch. Simon tells me “there is still some problem with this version”, so I’ll watch this thread for news of a real production run.

I was trying to buy a blue host, and Simon said the only stock he had was clear, to which I replied OK! and then he mentioned the unspecified problem. Such a tease!

Would he sell those piston boots separately?
I prefer the clear stainless steel ones, but would love to put some in various lights.

Yes. Stripped off the anodize with some unknown chemical obtained from company workshop Big Smile
The picture u see above is polished body (with Autosol).

Below here is the picture just after stripping off the anodize (before polish)..

The tail cap is the first try with pure unknown chemical (too strong and also the reason i decided to chrome it though). After mixing with water, i tried on the body and the head again and got amazing results.
