I respect everyone’s opinion but this poll was started May 1st and ran for 3 weeks before it closed. The results were given to Simon. You can continue to discuss of course but please understand the voting part is over. Simon went with a black steel switch for the first run. His company…his choice. Other switch options may come later. There are still several things to be worked out before the light is released. When I have a confirmed release date I will start a thread for the new light.

No problem with me , go against the majority and see how it sells, not to me ,I do not want it ! Sad

I prefer the clear stainless steel ones, but would love to put some in various lights.

The reason the black steel switches are holding this up is the finish is not as durable as intended. The black may wear off over time and Simon doesn’t want to sell the clear S2+ with a sub-standard switch. They would probably appeal to some anyway so there is a possibility the black steel switch cover assembly may be sold separately at a discounted price. This is not a promise, just a possibility. I will post here when I have confirmation.

I’d be really interested in a black steel switch(together with a black S2+)

I wonder if there is any update on the ‘clear’ S2+ production yet.

It is sad that the delay relates to the black finish on the metal push-button switch – The S2+ example pictured on page 1 of this thread which features the clear rubber switch boot looks awesome!

Really looking forward to this model coming out. Clear anodizing is nicest looking S2+ finish (in my opinion) and of course I will be sure to purchase a few.

I need some some tailcap with stainless steel switch. Doesn’t need switch PCB or spring just the things to convert my rubber switched S2+, S3 and Jaxman E2L to stainless. And of course I want clear inner rubber boot to add lightet tailcap board. J-dub can you ask Simon if he can sell some ? I don’t mind the color because I want to strip and polish the whole lights to bare aluminum. Or anybody has some for sale?

I doubt there will be boot type conversion kits because the tailcap is machined differently.

The black metal switch looks a bit weird on a silver host unless you also add a black clip or something to match. It’s kinda nice with the matching clip though.

As for lighting a metal switch, it doesn’t really work very well. It uses more power and is barely visible, so it would make a lot more sense to go with a lighted clear rubber boot or an unlighted metal switch. The tail light requires some driver changes too, which further complicates matters.

d) Ti button like the massdrop lumintop brass tool. It shouldn’t be too difficult to incorporate a membrane to seal the button. The color would be a better match than stainless.

I know the tailcap is different and the stainless one is threaded. And I know how to build lighted tailcaps. I have some Innocent

I don’t need a lot light from stainless. Just to be visible at night next to my bed. That is why I search for whole tailcap without electronic components.

I like plain stainless. I will also buy 1-2 hosts. Black button is likely to wear and look terrible.

Same for me. Plain stainless please. In for 1-2 hosts. Big Smile

There is a run of clear S2+ coming with the standard stainless switch pretty soon. No exact date yet. I’ll post more when I know more.

Will it come with the new Biscotti?

Of course it will! Thumbs Up

Might be a change though in the tailcap. This first round may be translucent rubber switch boot just like the clear C8. That IMHO is a really good look against the clear anodizing. Whatever switch it has, this bad boy is gonna look SWEET!

That version will not likely be sold outside of China. The black switch in that version was experimental and needs work. The version that will hit the Ali store soon will also have the XPL-HI and a SMO reflector. Ours will probably have a stainless switch, not the black one (Desert Tan will have black though). It also has a DTP copper star and AR coated glass standard. These upgrades are the reason for the extra cost. It’s extra awesome. Wink

Hhmm, I really like the new S2+ in clear with the black switch. It feels great, dunno of any problems though.

Was I not supposed to have this light? Ooops! smilecool

Seriously, the silver and black look pretty good together, to me.

Tom, is there a flashlight in the world that you do not own?
Great flashlight by the way, that clear anodized S2+

Really great news! Just exactly what I wanted to make out of a steel switched S2+. XP-L HI with smo reflector and strip anodisation. Only this is better with AR lens and the more clip grooves and dtp mcpcb at stock form. I will buy one and the only mod I left to do is the lighted switch if It will run with Biscotti. But I think it will.
