Budget single 26650 suggestions

As above looking for suggestions for a budget single 26650 light as I like this form in the hand.
Reasonable build quality, (the option to be easily modded at a later date would be great) & reasonable out put as stock.
Preferably 3 modes high, medium & low, no blinkies would be good.
Not a dedicated thrower nor flooder more general purpose if that makes sense.
I am sure I saw a Uniquefire single 26650 recently that seemed to fit the bill but can”t find the thread now ?
All suggestions greatly received

5 modes, but it is a nice light for the price.

This is a good one…

This has an infinitely variable switch for under $20…

That UF one from GB is really cheap (I think it is the one I had previously seen), any idea what the output is really like & whether it actually has a cree emitter ?
Also what would it be like to mod ?
What sort of beam ?
I am guessing the StarryLight would be harder to mod due to the variable switch ?

heck, thats in a way a description of a single 26650 zoomie….

throw a couple bucks at the DRIVER later on? and you have decent power and can get rid of the blinkines it most likely comes with…

zoomies get really “useful” when you dont have TINY lens, but, not so heavy you have to have a BIG lens for maximum throw… and with a “useful” lens size and a 26650 battery? you get runtimes, especially when you update the driver leter on for more output…

I was thinking more of a non zoomie as I have a Cometa (when BG send me a new one I will have one that works) plus I have a pair of extremely cheap no name 26650 zoomies already.
This 26650 will probably be my first modding attempt so I would like something with the potential to be easily & hopefully cheaply modded to end up with some reasonable gains/improvements.

These are the 26650 zoomies I already have http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141904306999?\_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
As I said no brand, very very cheap & 5,000 lumens from the single LB emitter :sunglasses:

How many lumens would you say those are? 1000 lumens or 600 lumens?

Those are both decent looking lights.
I like the variable switch light. Do you own that one? If so how’s the output?

those are 10K lumens, kill Grizly bears with strobe and can assist in chopping down trees.

The emitters are Lattice Bright not Cree as advertised & probably 5-600 lumens if you are lucky.
Very cold white light with a bit of blue in it & some rings in the beam pattern but my wife likes them for some unknown reason ?
the only thing she dosen”t like about them is the 5 modes with 2 blinky modes.
She would be happier with a simple single mode on high/off .

That sort of thing happens to me also when speaking with illiterates in these (or other) matters. A classic spanish proverb comes to my mind: “No se hizo la miel para la boca del asno” which seems to be equivalent to the english adage “Cast pearls before swine”.

No offence of course. We've gathered a lot of knowledge and expertise about this. They turn on a $2 eBay SK68 clone and “WOW!” comes off their mouths. LOL!

Thanks ReManG I ordered the UltraFire one in your first link

Sorry for the late reply, the UF one is by all appearance a rear clicky version of the JM07, a light I like very much. It is easier to mod without a side switch I would suspect.

The Starry Light DXM is very interesting. Some visible PWM at the lower modes, but very fast and not too bad. The switch is pretty cool, you can pull it down to a glow on the LED, or a quick push, you are on high…

Now the magnetic switch has two issues, neither really bad. The first is parasitic drain, about enough to kill a 3500mah battery in 30 days. Easy work around, tailcap locks out with a 1/4 turn. This is my car light now, anyone can use the switch with no training on the modes, no blinkies either….

The second issue is the emitter/driver interface… Apparently the LED Vf needs to be close to the stock or higher to allow the light to turn off reliably. I swapped a 219B V1 into mine and lost the ability to turn the light off… I think the 219B has a lower Vf than the stock XM-L2, so I took it out and put the original emitter back in, no problem now… I will try a warmer XM-L2 in the future….

Using a decent 26650, these lights at about 900 lumen should have a couple of hours run time, which is very nice when you need it… The DXM is dive rated and should be pretty bulletproof…

That is also what I thought & suspected the same with regard to ease of modding.
I think I have also seen a couple of other lights that are identical just under different brand names.
This UF version seemed to be the cheapest though
Thanks again for the suggestion

That Starry Light DXM and this Solarstorm DX1 CREE XM-L2 U2 1200LM Diving LED Flashlight 100M

In a review of the Solarstorm's unit I read long ago, it was commented that unscrewing the tailcap half a turn or so was all it required to completely disengage the driver from the battery.

Xintd or convoy x3

Does this one have a decent pill? Wonder about heat dissipation.

From my old review. https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/28423

Is the first light in ReManG”s suggestion (the light that I have ordered) a UF F13 ?
