Sold Out! O-L Modified Maglites 2D W/3-up XHP50, FET, cosmetics, BEAM SHOTS NOW

For all the buyers, The lights have all shipped. Thank you and I will be out of pocket starting Tuesday the 17th, so if you have issues, you will have to wait till I am back to where I can do anything. It's been predicted by the doctors that it might take from 6 weeks to 6 months to be at that point, so I may have to find a source for any problem lights, for repairs, in the form of a member here, but if you bear with me, any issues will be resolved in time.

Sold Out already! Thank you all so much! I will keep this thread updated as the lights get finished up.

Git 'er Done!!

I am in the process of finishing a very small run of Maglites, to sell. I should be able to have them up for sale in a week, if things go right. Of course lately, that statement would be laughable.

These six lights are 2D Maglites and they will run 3x XHP50 leds on DTC mcpcbs, on a copper heat sink plate, with an aluminum heat sink below that. The driver is a Mtn. Electronics FET driver with the standard FET firmware. The reflectors are SRK reflectors and the lenses are coated glass. The reflectors are OP and the leds domes are slightly frosted, to loose the + mark from these four die leds. They will be lights with a large hot spot and plenty of lumens. The switch will be momentary. The body will be able to hold 2x26650 or 2x18650 Li-ion cells.

The cosmetics have been done by DB Custom. I am no longer able to do the hand work I used to do. I don't have the strength to sit and work for more than a few minutes at a time, so I let Dale do the cut rings in the heads and bodies. The rest I am doing myself, a little at a time.

I feel fairly certain that this is the last run of these 2D 3-up Maglites that I will ever produce. These lights will have laser engraving on the bodies, with my logo and they will be numbered. #1 of 6, etc. The number 3 is already taken, so now there are only five to sell and they aren't even ready yet. The logo will look something like this:

Old-Lumens Lights

Triple 50

#1 of 6

Here are a couple photos:

OMG Beam Shots

The last one was stopped down, to see the beam. No artifacts to speak of. Just a really big and really bright beam.

133,000 Lux at 1 meter

I will take #1. I am normally not a big fan of maglites but I have a few Old-Lumens XHP50/XHP70 lights and they are all great.

All the best for the sale OL. These are sweet looking at l have no doubt will be amazing performers.

These will punch out serious lumens. Any idea, OL, of the final number ? I cannot afford one, but I’m very interested to keep watching this post though.

Not till I do some amp draws and then I can guesstimate off that. If I use a conservative 2500 lumens per led, then 7500 lumens isn’t too far off, but it will be a large floody beam, with the small SRK reflectors.

Man I’ve been waiting for RMM’s Mega M6 and now this comes along.

Cripes. That’s awesome.

I’ll take #6

I’ll take #2.

I’ll take lucky number 4 because we know 2 and 3 aren’t.

Looks like lucky #5 is the only one not claimed. thank you all so very much and I will update as things progress with them.

I will be honored to take #5 then!

God, if only there was a seventh…. So in love with this one. A masterpiece, really! Perfect work OL!

Sold Out already! Thank you all so much! I will keep this thread updated as the lights get finished up.

First testing with the 3-ups shows about 4.5 amps per led with Efest purple 18650 cells, so not too shabby and that's with fairly long and thin test leads. Hopeful it will put out about 9000 lumens from the leds, with the short thick wires in the builds and good 26650 cells, but less lumens OTF with the stippled reflectors and lightly frosted domes. Maybe 7500 OTF, just a SWAG.

In other words, respectable, with a large floody hot spot.

That's all for now. Still waiting for the lights to come back from engraving.

This sounds fantastic, thanks for the update.

Epic, truly epic work! I know it’s been said before, but You ARE The Man!

…now i wonder if this device will be allowed in my country? - lol

Thanks for the update Justin.
Keep up the good work.

Pat, have you not seen a light of this caliber in action? If not, then you have more than a few giggling schoolgirl moments in store!

Thanks for the heads up, that is good news Old lumens.
There will be some giggly school girl moments indeed!
Looking at the pics I see 7 bezels. Who gets lucky number 7?
