One Of My Personal Favorites

Well I got this Solarforce L2 host in the mail today. I open the package and man you know how you feel when you think you found the perfect flashlight. Wel lthat that's what I feel I have doen after holding this thing in my hand. It just looks sexy and feels good. LOL! Well I thought looks are one thing let's see how it shines. So I add my XM-L P60 dropin and plug a Trustfire 18650 flames battery and turn this baby on and I fell in love all over again. This is one of my favorites.

It's got an orange peel reflector.

Out of all of the lights that I've purchased since joining this board , I think that the Solarforce L2 with the Ultrafire T6 3-mode is the best value I've found . Durable , bright , easy mode changes , and I like the way it looks .

I did mod mine a little . I shaved a sliver off the tailcap boot nipple because in it's stock form I found it to be too sensitive . I also sanded the attack bezel down to be a little more pocket friendly .

I love my L2 .

I've done the same to my aggressive 'attack' bezels, just leaving enough relief to see if I've left the torch on. Good idea on the tailcap - thanks for the tip.

The L2T impressed me just as much, if not more. Great value.

All my SF lights have the $2.50 stainless steel bezel option. Well worth the price. I think I have 6 of their crenelated bezels in a drawer somewhere. I think the LP series looks WAY better with the flat SS bezel.

+1.

I always buy a separate flat bezel. Crenelated bezels? Just say no.

Readings at tailcap are just a little over 2.4 amps.

The L2 is one of my faves too. Best bargain IMO. If you dont have already the gun metal version is really good looking. A SS flat bezel would make it even sexier! ;)

the one from the silver UF504b fits on the solarforce.

I have one L2 and I have the "2011 version" on the way. I haven't found a better p60 host for my money. I think I better get a gunmetal one while I'm at it.

Right now, mine has a 2.8A neutral (4500K) XM-L in it and it's just a joy to use.

The SF L2 is the most owned light in my collection, That includes clones tho.

I have a customized black with silver accents L2, UF 504B silver AL, and an L2T all with T6 leds and 18650's in them. I just built my Aunt a SF L2i w/R5 led as a birthday present and she just LOVES it!

To me its the size in how it fits in the hand, power which can many times hang with lights 2x-3x the price and also the fit and finish. Last is the price, Its low if you build your own, But well worth it even at pre-built prices.

I found no negatives with my gunmetal L2i and UF 3-mode drop-in. I prefer the L2i because it's not only versatile with batteries but the wider body also has a better feel in the hand. If you only own one L2 then I say definitely have it be the "i" version because of it's battery versatility. I went with gunmetal because I'm kind of a fan of that color on metal objects. It just gives it a durable yet still professional look. Yes, the L2 is definitely a winner in the P60 host group. It's a classic that all budget flashlight enthusiasts should own. Look at that: Solarforce gets to be the proud owner of a brand everyone should own, haha.

I just realized that Foy hasn't rhapsodized about his love of all things Solarforce in this thread .

Yet .

Where do you bought it? I know only the silver shiny L2 and the nice grey matt finished L2p. I have never seen your color.

Why not buy the three tube kit? Its a full L2 plus an L2i tube plus an L2r tube. Its a bargain. Just grab a low voltage XP-G drop-in and you have the ultimate in battery flexibility.

Its a pretty neat starter package for new flashaholics come to think of it. They can start on AAA's, AA's or CR123A's and progress on to lithiums (2*16340 or 1*18650) when they wish.

2*16340 = 8.4 v might burn the driver (max 4.2 V) :)

The Solarforce L2 got me hooked on P60 hosts. Well made, and feel really nice in my hands. The L2 and L2P have the 3 mode Manafont Cree XML T6's, the L2T has a generic single mode XML I got from Manafont, and the L2M has a Solarforce XP-G R5 low voltage 3 mode drop in.

I love these lights.

Very good recommendation! I didn't think about that option. I wonder if it was available when I bought my first Solarforce and at that price. It's hard to pass up the sweet deal of $8 for a host, but if you don't minding spending a little more because you're interested in experimenting then the 3 tube package is the way to go.

Also, +1 on the flat SS bezel. That was the first accessory I ever purchased for my L2 and it came with the first order.

Just be sure not to throw out that little 1" square stainless steel piece of metal that comes in the same package as the SS bezel. I think it was Boaz who had to explain to me, that is the tool you use to tighten down the bezel into the head. I wouldn't have had a clue...
