I think the explosion potential highly depends on the chemistry of the battery…
Of cause there are many videos out there that show lithium batteries exploding with big flames. So I’m not saying that theres no danger, but it seems like Li-Ion and LiPo cells became pretty stable nowadays.
Saw another youtube movie of bigclive yesterday, he calmlt tears down another Li Ion cell
“hmm I smell that typical scent”
“and it is getting hot, I shuld have drained it”

The battery was most likely empty like drained to zero volts! Then they are fairly safe!
we have to use original chargers and not the cheapest cells……and no problem in my opinion……all the fires except flames are abusive….
