Do you replace batteries in your "Fauxtons" (Commonly known as Keychain lights)?

I remember replacing one round of batteries to Goinggear-freebie fauxton.

I must say I use them quite little...

I voted 4, some of the older ones got weak after a year or so of hanging on zippers, keychains etc but are still bright enough to be useful.

I don't plan to replace the batteries once they're done.

Infact I have harvested quite some batteries from unused Fauxtons to put them in remote controls, calculator, watches etc because it's much cheaper than buying spare batteries locally.

When you can get them for like $.25 in bulk, I just don't consider it worthwhile... The only things I salvage from my "Fauxtons" are the LED, the attachment device (gate clip/split ring), and the screws (sometimes a perfect fit for lost sunglasses screws)... and I've recently given up on salvaging the screws... I have too many... :D

I replace and recycle.

Batteries cost less than the fauxtons and take less space in storage.

Fauxtons are very small and inexpensive keychain lights. They feature a 5mm led powered by one CR2032 coin cell battery or two CR2016s depending on the model and led color. They can be obtained in white, red, blue, purple (near UV), yellow or green leds.

There is also a multi-color led variation with a led that changes colors when turned off, nice for parties or eventually could be used for signaling. The case can be either black or translucent-white for the white led version: for the color leds the case is a translucent plastic with the same color tone as the led, blue case for blue led, etc.

There are no additional features besides the on/off but you have two ways to turn it on, you can either squeeze for momentary activation or use a small slider switch for constant on. The runtime is very good and the brightness is more than acceptable for the size and price.

For keychains or backup lights attached to many different items this small flashlights are a great option and for $1 you can't be dissapointed.

The word fauxton threw me ..... I'm sure lots of people had to run to google as well.

An edit with the phrase keychain light or squeeze light might increase the response to this poll .

i am not a fan of squeeze lights ..with AAA's so smalland so bright I don't see the need for a cheapo light on my keys ...Plus I need to have some real wow factor to show I'm a flashlight junkie ....like 900 lumens :P

Hey, good point! I didn´t think about that, edited the topic now :)

I have to say I use quite little my keychain lights. Yes, they are smallest and lightest yet have enough power to be used in misc jobs. ATM I just happen to have only those almost Angry Blue -onesm which I hate. I also dislike their tendency to be throwy with just a little lumens. They are used in short distance so why not sand the LED and make floody ones?

AAA´s are my thing in small lights. I like also the NiMh capability rather, than once-off. I know the cost is minimal on 2032 or 2016 yet still I prefer to load cells up before I go.

I haven't had to decide whether to change the battery or just use another keychain button light yet. I don't know how much the replacement batteries are. I find it hard to believe that they are less than the whole light. If so I'll just replace the battery.

The only light that I edc is a plastic button style keychain light. It's much lighter and small than my ITP A3 so that's what I carry.

When I use the A3 it's necklace style with the light tucked under my shirt. I've just ordered some button style keychain lights with a red LED and a UV LED. When I carry those it will be necklace style as well.

I bought some batteries to replace the ones in my xtar keychain lights. Then I went and bought 10 more from dx. Have not changed the batteries yet.
