Fasttech SRK Quad thoughts.

I bought this light from Fasttech with no idea on how bad a light could be built.
https://www.fasttech.com/products/4173302
I’m not wasting to much time on this as it really does not warrant it so heres a few pictures on the good and bad.

From the date of purchase to dispatch was four days. I paid extra for quicker delivery and tracking. From the time of dispatch to delivery was a further ten days.
As usual with packaging used at fasttech the box the light come in was damaged. The light inside was ok though.

The light itself looked ok if it was not inspected closely.

The battery tube was loose when screwing into the head and the oring to seal out the elements did not contact the head at all when the battery tube was assembled to the head. Waterproof this isnt.

Looking at the front of the light the oring can be seen not in its housing. Again this would let in water. After disassembling the light there was no seat for the oring anyway to hold it there.
The leds were totally screwed up with there location central to the reflector holes. Google maps would of had a hard time getting the leds to the correct homes.
Finger prints and filth was all over the reflector and lens. It really was terrible.

And finally a picture of the shelf with leds on it. Notice the gap? The shelf was lucky it did not fall through the ledge.

Modes from turn on were hi, low, off, the hidden flashy mode was available if the switch was held on for a couple of seconds.

I bought this light for a purpose and that was to test items for the Q8 project. If I had bought this light as a working light I’d be totally disappointed.
This would have to be the worst light I have ever purchased quality wise and would avoid it at all costs.

At least you got the box that was pictured…

I got this one for $20AU recently for a project. At least the MCPCB fits the ledge well & is being pushed down on it.

Not that it matters for what I’m doing to it……

Wow that is bad. I’m so grateful for the people on this site who do in-depth reviews on these mystery lights so everyone can know the quality budget hosts to buy.

Did not know PostNL delivered in your neck of the woods. That is their trademark.

Hard to know ahead of time what you will get. And not worth the shipping costs to return to China. Here’s a thought… Amazon.com sells some SRK versions. A few of them are sold and shipped by Amazon themselves. They will cost more than a Chinese based vendor but Amazon has an excellent return policy here in the USA.

Has anyone tried one of theirs

One
Another and yet another

6000, 17,000, and 25,000 lumens. At least the first one is only exaggerated by 5 times.

Haha, hold a giveaway for that light when you are finished and watch no one enter :confounded: Then again this is BLF, I’m sure there are plenty of people who could make something good, even if they threw the light away and used the box as a host :sushi:

Is it easy to take apart?

You mentioned you paid extra for quicker delivery. Folks running online sales sites refer to this as the “would you like to pay extra for no reason” checkbox.

Your probably right but it does arrive in an Aus post satchel and delivery’s arrive usually within a week of them posting it.

Yes. it nearly fell apart without unscrewing anything.

Steve this is terrible.

That led board with the tape
Definitely a step down :frowning:

I have an 7led clone on order from EBay,$16
It is depicted with the same red button (my others have silver buttons) and like the black one on your box (the reason for ordering and check this new design)
When it is in and has the same poor quality we can compare measurements
Because my other SRKs have a board that is touching the housing they can be modded to take more power
So I will send you a led board from one of mine if that resolves this way too small board issue.

To be honest Miller I’m not interested in the light the way it was not that I bought it to leave standard. I’ll make a shelf and stick some XPL HI’s in it and hopefully use a driver thats on its way. I just hope the reflector cleans up ok without me stuffing it up.

oh wauw, yeah is you are able to make a shelf that is better then using one that is igger then this one you have here

I hope I can make a shelf.

Well if not I’ll send you a better fitting one after measurements and checking if the ones in my other SRKs fit better.

That one is really bad, you were unlucky! I have bought a 7 led version from Gearbest recently that is better at all aspects.

at least that has a shelf.many simply tape the mcpcb to the reflector and call it good.
the only decent srk style lights like that one were branded securitylng.at $10 shipped on clearance they were great deals.
now the only one to consider is the supfire m6 at mtnelectronics.com

What ever happened to the “Securitying” SRK clones we used to all buy.
They were inexpensive, were well made with a nice emitter shelf and the driver was easily modable. They came with three to seven LED reflectors. Everybody was buying them for a while. I think I might still have a couple in boxes.

Well I ordered a quad securitying and it is no better then SRK clones. Better then this clone MRsDNF has received here

What happened seems to be cutting one corner at the time to reach this poor quality clone Steve is now having. Hence the Q8 project

No matter how many corners they cut, they can always find one more to nibble away (sigh)
