Anybody have a current link to one of these that is for sure the infinite brightness version? I'd like to get one but don't want one with set modes.... thanks for any help!
Ok, pm me the link, I don't care. I just have read bad things about people getting the set modes version and I really don't want to get stuck with a light I don't want. What is the obsession with shilling around here?
some members of blf has been on edge lately with this shilling issue, its one of those things that will never go away, I see no reason for it being brought up with your post though.

Ok so KD is the only one still selling it for sure. I read the review of the 6 mode programmable one but some of the comments on DX said they didn't get the right one. That's probably right since it's under $15 on there now and the KD one is almost $20. Thanks!

I think you're being paranoid. KD has never shilled or spammed this site (or even visited that I know of). However, there are certainly threads around here that are easy enough to find that tell you KD is the only source. Sometimes I will tell people to do a search, but the polite thing to do is point people in the right direction or just provide a link to the product.
[Edit: KD now shows this light as being six modes and it probably isn't programmable!!!]
I don't want to enter in the shilling dispute so i back on the first question.
I ordered the KD programmable version but i received the 6 mode version. I contact the customer service and they changed the product page (infact the link show the six mode version). Then, after ten mail with they finally shipped the right one (but they didn't change back the product page) and i shipped back the six mode.
The conclusion is... I'm not sure KD still sells programmable akoray...
Newbies are the ones we should try to impress the most though.
I stand corrected on my link. It does look like they have changed the description. Given that DX gave out of these long ago and no new supplies have shown up in the meantime it isn't hard to guess that the programmable lights have been out of production for a while and won't be back. That's a shame because it was a really cool idea for a budget light. No idea why they would abandon it. What they really needed to do was update it to a better LED and a higher driving current.
I'm with you. This shilling paranoia is BS. Wait until someone actually does it then just mark it as spam. Has worked fine up til now and no one gets insulted or offended. Nothing like a silly unfounded accusation to welcome a new member.

I only wondered why the shilling obsession because there was a poll on the side of the page ever since I've been here about it, and I never had heard that term before! Anyway... thanks for the offer for the Akoray! I was really really wanting one but I saw the thread https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/4111#new and now I'm not so sure. Is the tint really that bad?? Also my R5-A3 clip just broke last night 
Just one thing: the last link posted (KD ID 6975) is a K109 that runs on CR123's.
As far as I know there is no one selling the programmable version. If someone knows a link to one, feel free to PM me....
