Placed my first order with them.  Really not thrilled so far. Here is my email exchange:

My Inquiry:

Hello,

It has been 9 days since I placed my order. My account summary says it is back ordered. There are 3 items on my order. One says it ships immediately, and two say they ship in 1-3 business days but it has already been 7 business days. Please tell me what is going on with my order. Thank you.

Their Reply:

Hi Friend,

We are preparing your order, and it should be ready soon, we will ship it as soon as they are ready, ok? Please do not worry. Best Regards

These guys could go into politics with a non-answer like that.

First impressions last and since this is my first order with them--and they are not exactly the only budget light dealer around--they may have lost a customer.

Why do I carry a flashlight?  Because half of every day is dark.

DX has been pretty good about shipping items separately, but not KD. Unfortunately, you won't know if something is out of stock until you order it (DX isn't any different, recently I spent 6 weeks waiting on an item to ship that never showed more than 4 to 7 days to ship (usually 2 to 4) on the product page). I have had a couple of problems with KD and was not impressed by their communication (or lack of). Still, if I need something and they are the only ones that have it or have the best price, I don't mind using them.

Lately I've found KD batter than it used to be. Still not brilliant, but comparable to DX,maybe even a little quicker.

Exactly what happened to me.  KD is about the only place to get the Akoray/PDC AK-16.

Hey KD has the Hugsby P31 and P32 now! They're both cheaper than the one on DX too!

Just ordered a P32. What is it with China and flashing lights? High/Low would be fine. Don't need or want High/Low/Strobe.

I would love to have just 2 modes on most of my lights.  I don't even think about buying anything with more than 3 modes.  Are there lights with only 2 modes?

I think the the flashing mode is good for bicyclists. A lot of them always have the strobe on when riding in the dark. They always catch my attention when I'm driving so I don't run them over Tongue out

I guess strobes can also be used as a deterrent but for me I would be happy with just a high and a low.  You know what?  I think I'm also happy with a medium now that I think about it so I guess I'll stick to 3 mode high, medium and low lights.  I know, I know, make up my friggin' mind.  Undecided

There's a gold version of the P32 now. No picture though.

Sounds ugly but perhaps not as ugly as this Hugsby.

Your last link is the same as your first one lol. Sucks you have to wait for so long for them to ship it. I always order things separately so that all the in-stock items can ship first. Good luck getting your bicycle cramp!

If I remember correctly, Kaidomain uses very poor terminology for their shipping system which only exacerbates the annoyance of the delay. The product page usually says "Ship right away" or "1-3 days" or something similar. Then you place the order, and it is immediately listed as "Back-ordered". Then, sometimes after 2 to 7 days, it will be listed as "Shipped". In reality, almost all of the Chinese budget dealers do not have any stock at all, so this is just typical business practice and I don't fault them for that. But they shouldn't use the term "Back-ordered", as that has really bad connotations. They should use the term "Collecting from suppliers", which at least gives the impression the product exists somewhere on earth.

It does indeed. Wonder if it could take the stresses of use in an engine Smile

To my eye it looks vaguely Indian - but this may just be because we in Britain tend think of India when (if) we think of Asia. Maybe it is generically Asian looking and it is just the vestiges of imperialism in me - after all we hung on to India as a colony for 173 years after the USA escaped. And Hong Kong sort of until 1997. In fact the majority of the dealers we buy from in Hong Kong were almost certainly educated under a British controlled system.

I just have to laugh at how quickly this thread keeps going off on a tangent!  Maybe I lack natural leadership ability LOL but  3 replies after I started the thread about KD's shipping/customer service quality, we took this wild detour about Hugsby lights, and how many modes were best, and how ugly some particular light was.  Then after I post an (on-topic) update, in 4 posts we range off to camshafts and the British colonial system.

I stress that this does not upset me at all, I am just marveling at how far afield we can get so quickly.  I am actually amused by it.

Oh goody, they just replied:

 Hi Friend,
We will send it to you within in this week, please do not worry.

I think sb56637 is on the right track...its not so much how long they actuallytake to ship, its that they raise false expectations by telling it will ship faster than they know it really will.  If they said it shipped in 6 weeks and it actually shipped in a month then I would probably be happier than if they said it shipped in 3 days and it actually shipped in 3 weeks,

BTW, they didn't offfer me any mini cow LEDs to make up for the problem Cry

Sorry for repeating the whole thing but i couldn't resist. Is it awesome as a cleaner?

Now short of talking about someone's medical problems we really have wandered about as far off topic as we can.

And no, I'm not going to revolt you with mine....

I find that KD has some unique items, unfortunately a lot of the Mag modding stuff they used to have they aren't getting back in stock. Their shorty spring is wonderful - it actually makes it feasible to get the tailcap back on on a Mag and certainly works fine for me.

Their D lithium cells may be ...(insert warnings about high capacity unprotected lithium cells) but try getting such things elsewhere.

They actually seem to be a bit faster, if no more communicative than they used to be - my last order arrived in about 2-3 weeks which I regard as acceptable. I have an order outstanding from 1/8 but I'm not expecting it for another 2 weeks or so. I just completely ignore whatever they say about in stock or whatever and factor that into my buying decision. I've had one order with the wrong (ordered an early XP-G R5 dropin, got an MC-E one instead and thought that life was far too short to argue about it) item arrive and have never had an order go astray though the D lithium cells mentioned above took about 4 months to arrive. They are nearing the end of their lives now and am wondering if I'll bother replacing them as the ROP bulbs are getting too expensive to acquire now and I have a brighter LED light now.

I don't really use this cleaner. I've only used it a couple of times. The toxic fumes it emits makes me really nauseated to do any further work. I probably need to take some Zofran or Reglan if I work with this stuff Tongue out

As for KD, I think they are good. I recently received the Ultrafire 501B from them and their packaging is excellent. It was wrapped several times in bubble wrap, making the light perfectly safe for delivery. On the other hand, DX only wraps it in one layer of bubblewrap (not very secure either) and the light always has scratches and scuffs from the handling of the post office.

Would you like to buy my bottle? It's only been used twice. Still in mint condition. Taken care of very well. No scratches/blemishes. And did I mention it's AWESOME?! Make me an offer.

LOL  I don't think I've ever seen any of that stuff in stores here.  I could've used it many times especially lately since I've been salvaging 18650's from old laptop batteries.  Lots of very sticky stuff inside those battery packs. Frown

I find Goo Gone to be the best stuff to remove sticky stuff. It's available at the dollar stores.
