STL-V2 vs X8 vs Ex10

Thank you! I don't think I'd seen the STL-V2 and X9 side by side. Great comparisons!

Thankyou for this! I just ordered the X9 because of the bigger headsize+xml combo. It is nice to see the comparison to the stl-v2:D

great thread and pictures but i have the Jetbeam BC40 great light and it will throw very well how do the others stack up quality wise to the BC40 as i have some of the other brands and they dont come close to it and there is no mention of this in the thread.

the jetbeam BC40 is a 300 + yard thrower going by marshell,s video review from goinggear, i measured mine out and found good usable throw to 250 meters (273 yards or 820 feet) but still has good spill i think it throws so well due to the deep narrow orange peal reflector AR coated lense and quality of the torch.

i like the brand trustfire but it does not match Jetbeam in quality and the STL-V2 pictures ive seen it looks cheap thats whats made me hold off from buying it, just my opinion.

with the BC40 two modes high and low with a twist of the head no flashy modes, battery lock out feature with just 1/4 of a turn of the tail cap with its perfect anodised threads and a very very low parasitic battery drain if you dont lock out the batteries and keep batteries in it for long periods not to mention the torch coating is much stronger on the BC40 compared to the Trustfires.

the BC40 comes with spare o-rings a quality holster, an anti roll ring, lanyard and spare tail cap boot but the BC40 when brought from manafont is $12 to $15 usd more then the X8 and X9 when they are brought from manafont aswell and it is $20 usd more then the STL-V2 if brought from DX compared to the BC40 brought from manafont.

p.s im not having a dig at Hikelites thread as i think its a good one i just love the bc40 and think quality wise it is better then the trustfires, i also realy like the trustfire brand im known to rave on about the trusfire brand, but in saying that i think the X9 and the X8 are great buy,s i like the X9 its on the wish list.

just my 2 cents and worth nothing more.

Maybe yours or my math sucks :D

JetBeam BC40 $67.38

TrustFire X8 $45.99 (difference to BC40: -$21.39)

TrustFire X9 $34.94 (difference to BC40: -$32.44)

Sky Ray STL-V2 $54.70 (difference to BC40: -$12.68)

FandyFire STL-V6 $46.20 (difference to BC40: -$21.18)

So X8 and X9 are more than $12 to $15 less than BC40.

no actually

all my stated prices are within $1.20 usd for reference, but i have edited my post to state where i have compared the pricing from to keep people like yourself happy but i have not changed any pricing, i only include prices from manafont for all torches except the STL-V6 as manafont only sell the STL-V2.

i have not included any ebay prices or any online shops i have not personaly used as i do not want to recommend any fake or under-performing lights, there is enough of that already and look at the variation in colour or current draws with the X9 and others

manafont BC40 $67.38

manafont X8 $51.70 (diffrence $15.68)

manafont X9 $54.80 (diffrence $12.58)

manafont STL-V2 $54.70 (diffrence $12.68) skyray

DX STL-V6 $46.20 (diffrence $21.18) fandyfire but these pictures on this thread is of the STL-V2

so my quick math is with in $1.20 usd for refence sake, but i did confuse the DX STL-V6 for the manafont STL-V2 as dx does not sell the STL-V2 only the STL-V6 and this thread is about head comparison with the STL-V2 they seem the same, a clone of a clone.

The X9 at Manafont is a light+battery+charger bundle.

I got mine (flashlight only) at an eBay auction for US$ 28.51. That's history, I know, but Buy it Now prices have been about US$ 38 all the time. They all seem to be underdriven though, so you might want to add about US$ 5 for the 2.8A replacement driver (regulated now!).

Of course I'm looking for cheapest I can find in 1 minute or so... why else I would be looking for budget lights if price wouldn't matter?

I have bought from DX, Focalprice, BuyinCoins, BestOfferBuy, TinyDeal, Manafont, Dinodirect and at least dozen of eBay sellers and no problems so far.

And if you haven't bought X9 from Manafont, how do you know it's any different than lights from eBay?

Sky Ray STL-V2 and FandyFire STL-V6 are same, just different branding.

HKE might very well have a pricing that's comfortably lower than usd67 though.....that'd be useful for international customers as shipping is "free". Bugoutgear is at 69.90 and you can use a 15% disc coupon which brings it down to 59.40, shipped free for CONUS. <--- if people can fork out 46 bucks to get the X8, i am sure they can fork out 60 bucks for the BC40 CW or 70 bucks for the BC40 3C 5000k NW for those digging NW.

I was aiming for this one, but then got the Shadow TC6 as it looks better, built is still ok compared to Fenix/Balder (it already has an AR lens), plus it has NW. I can get a BC40 NW but have to source from batteryjunction, meaning it'd cost nearly 90 bucks shipped.

I might get it one day, but now for the same format (well, sort of) i am looking at the SWM TC40S. :D

Strangely enough, I have had MOST PROBLEMS up to date with US seller, with a couple of praised modders, some webshops and mostly forum individuals.

Today, I deal much more likely to east for easiness in shopping. Yes, you need to write simplified english, yes you have to wait.

The usual way is: Need something special, like intl shipping, different payment or something a bit different than just an US buyer. So, send an eMail or two.

Everything is always in order, fine, great and will be done. In most cases the connection just stops, nothing happens or interest is lost somewhere. In one example case of a modded +100$ light I had to wait over 6 months, prepaid, to get it firstly done, here, broken, back, fixing (took 2 months, solder one resistor), then back. This took me maybe 20 mails to write, constant pushing to get even the ******* light back and then some cash back.

Why is it hard to say no, I cannot do it, No, I won´t ship it or just don´t bother?

I know there are cultural differences and maybe for some of you it would sound rude to just turn back or say no but I just don´t get it. Usual way is just no answer at all OR first YES YES then nothing.

I know some people don´t like shipping intl because of the hassle, that´s ok.

Well, that´s all I had, out of steam now... :|

2100 the only other place ive seen the BC40 NW is goinggear just over $81 usd with internation shipping to australia might be worth the look if your intrested international shipping might be the same to your location at a guess ? but its $69.90 shipped inside the usa it,s all in a thread here

i dont realy digg NW but others might so its worth the mention and battery junction has some cool stuff i want to order at a good price but i made an order for some small items and a few D batteries and i just about fell of my chair with the shipping cost to australia so i didnt finish the order..

@ m3tal-lord buy from where you want, but some times cheaper is not always best and i can not personaly recomend atlest one of the sellers you have mentioned.

@ cheap thrills i get what you are saying and i wonder if thats why some usa sellers or personal sellers charge so much for international shipping to try and get poeple to go else where cause its to much hastle or they have had trouble in the past or did i miss the point, the most trouble ive had has been fleabay and paypal.

i have resurch the X9 on here for a few min,s tops and there seams to be atlest two diffrent versions sofar i wont get into it people can search it for them selfs, but even so i like it so ill resurch it some more maybe as its on the to buy list i would like a black one with around 2.5 amp,s to the emitter with no s.o.s or flashy modes.....

goinggear has a 10% coupon, bugoutgear has 15%, so bugoutgear is still the cheapest for CONUS customers.

Hey, just saw that HKE has the NW BC40.

Hey 2100

Would you take some pics in the way the perspective is in the 3rd and 4th photos, I know you got serious photo gear.

STL-V6 vs OTR X5, OTR X5 vs BD-4, BD-4 vs OTR X5

Hi everyone,

Just had a question, I just got the BC-40 on 10/7/2011 I also have the Thrunite Catapult V3

Do you think any of these here lights would be better than what I have? Or can you recommend a

Cheap Massive Bright light with spill and throw. Also, I read here about there being more emitters

Is that better? Thanks

You have two good one,s right there, if you want a cheap light with massive spill and decent throw search the trustfire TR-3T6 on here

Do you think that it's worth spending the money for it, I have been reading on the TR-3T6 and the STL-V2 but I have read and recently had 2 sky-ray both burnt out and I am getting the run around from Manafont I thought they would stand behind their product.

The TR-3T6 is a better buy to me and you can easily get spare drivers and parts for it from manafont

Not only that but the TR-3T6 has a rock solid rep for reliability. A great light that can run on one, two, or three cells.

Do you have to buy extra tubes extenders for more battery options?

There is two models
TR-3T6 2 x 18650’s
And the
TR-3T6 3 x 18650’s that will run on 2 or 3 18650’s if you read my thread on here there is all the info on it there
