Crelant 7G5 - Anyone owns / knows something about this thrower??

Hi,

Today, while browsing Taobao, I've found very interesting flashlight - Crelant 7G5. I remember this company from the small EDC named "7G1". It was a good and well made flashlight, but it was pricey and wasn't much popular. After a while company released 7G3 thrower ...but it shared the same fate.

Now, it seems that Crelant launched another model ...but this one is only available in China. No Europe or US dealers. What catched my attention ....is DEEP, BIG REFLECTOR (anyway, for 2x18650 class).

Here's Taobao link:

...which is totally abstract to me, so I tried to google for it in hope for some "english" oriented websites. A lot of Shoudian links, etc. But found two places, that sells this light worldwide:

...So what do you think ? Maybe someone already have it ...or want to be guinea pig ? When the "$" exchange ratio to my currency will be more sensible, I think I will buy it. Below, some taobao photos. The comparision to Catapult V2 looks promising :)

Found another two links with photos:

They say the reflector is deeper than the Cat's V2 , thus achieving greater throw.

"Conquer the darkness in style"

Specs look good,

1.CREE XM-L U2 LED

2.High efficiency dual mode DC-DC regulator (PWM / PFM)

3.Working voltage is 3.7V to 16V.

4.Functions:High-Low-Strobe

55.8 mm diameter x 55 mm deep reflector provides outstanding and efficient illumination over long distances exceeding 50 meters.

6.Max output with 2 x 18650 =850 Lumen

7.Max output with 3 x 123A =910 Lumen

coolper, what are the sizes of the reflector of Cat V2 and BD-4?

Cat V2 reflector is 54/52mm in diameter (outer/inner dimension) and ~48-49mm deep. Balder BD-4 reflector is similiar in diameter, but more shallow (didn't managed to unsrew it yet). To my eye maybe 40mm deep.

But ...there's another interesting thing. The design of the part containing LED and circuit looks exactly like Catapult's design. If I could screw Crelant 7G5 head onto Catapult light engine and body, that would be awesome. Cat drives the LED at 3.5A

Thanks coolperl

They say the XM-L on the Crelant is also driven @ 3.5A

It's interesting that the Taobao seller has thre 7G5 listed under the Thrunite flashlights category.

It has a very green tint which I don't like that much.

I believe, it will have the same tint as Balder BD-4 that uses 1C tinted / U2 binned LED. In real use it's not that bad. And I like the short 2x18500 configuration.

Do you know, how does the UI work ? Are the modes changed by rotating the head or by reverse clicky ?

Don't know about that yet

They say Crelant is produced by the same company as Tiablo.

Do you have the Sky Ray STL-V2 to Compare to Cat V2? I Think it has a similar reflector. Probably 55mm wide. I just guessed that by thinking of the bezel-reflector relation on X9 (59mm head-52mm reflector, dif 7mm) and o n this 7G5 (63mm head-56mm reflector, dif 7mm)

Someone said that STL-V2 has a 60mm reflector, but that can't be right since the head is 62mm. With the 7mm theory that results in a 55mm reflector for the STL-V2, but I don't think is as deep as the Cat V2.

Unfortunatelly, I don't have STL-V2. But judging from the pics, the bezel thickness of STL-V2 is not that big like bezel in X9. I had Olight M31 (which is very similiar to STL-V2) and the reflector was almost as wide as the head. The head wall was very thin. I'd say, the mirror diameter was approximately 4mm smaller than head diameter.

...Anyway, STL-V2 reflector and M31 reflector were quite shallow. I'd say under 40mm of depth. And knowing, how they throw, I suspect 7G5 will be outstanding in this aspect.

Good to know that Tiablo is involved in production of this light. They always made superb reflectors (A9, A10 for example) ...But their drivers and UI were not so good.

In a couple of days, I'll order this light ...and definitely will share my impressions, when it arrives. :)

Internal dimension of reflector (true reflector dia) of FF STL-V6 is 54mm. External diameter of reflector is 58.5mm. Depth is 40mm.

Another place where you can get it.

It's a nice flashlight, not a clone of some big brand thrower.
