FS: Modded Ultrafire F13s, XHP-50, 2800 lumens, 50kcd

Hi everyone, I have 5 modded lights for sale. I think this is a pretty cool light, so I thought it would be fun to build a few to sell for a reasonable price. This light is a relatively compact 1x26650 format light. The body diameter is smaller than most 26650 lights, so this light fits in the hand nicely. Here are the general specs:
-Ultrafire F13 host with integrated shelf from Gearbest
-sliced XHP-50 J2 2C from mtnelectronics
–22mm Zener modded FET driver from mtnelectronics, Bistro FW (FET adaptation made possible by Richard)
–2x26350 cells from Banggood (cells included)
-OP reflector that practically eliminates center dark spot in beam

They all produce about 2800 lumens at start, and 2525 lumens after 30 seconds (estimated from ceiling bounce tests). They pull about 7.3A during the first minute. They produce slightly different throw numbers around 50kcd.

The light has a fairly large hotspot that is virtually free of the dark center hole. The spot smoothly transitions to the bright spill. Beamshots in next posts.







This was taken through “solar viewing” glasses.

I did a runtime test in 100% mode in 1 minute increments. During each minute I measured the beam intensity. I also measured the open circuit cell voltage after each minute, after allowing the cells to rest for 1-2 minutes. The two cells in this test were within 0.02V during the entire test. The intensity drops off like any direct drive light, but there is sort of a plateau that makes for a reasonably high output for most of the battery life. It has Bistro FW so you can customize the number and order of many usefully spaced modes.

Although this host has better than average heat sinking, it is not near enough to deal with this light’s power on high, so it will get quite hot on high. The Bistro FW has thermal regulation that steps down the output when the body gets to ~138F. This prevents the body temperature from going much over 140F. The FW also has low voltage protection.

This first location is a path in the woods. All images have the same exposure settings. The crest of the path in the middle of the image is about 70m away.

The beam profile of this light made it ideal for this setting; the bright spill lit up the area close by and the transition to the hotspot is very smooth.

This location is an open field with bordering forest. The tree line is about 130m away. The exposure settings for this set are all the same. They turned out darker than I wanted, so I increased the exposure for all of them equally with software. (this is my first time taking beamshots)

Those are cool little lights. Did you by chance test one with the dome still on? I would think they would make for nice little flooders as well. I have this host plus all the parts for an xpl triple as my next project, but now that we have 26350s it seems something like the xhp50 is the way to go. Good luck with your sales!

Any ideas for a decent charger? My Nitecore only holds 18650s.

PM replied. I don’t have experience with a lot of chargers, but the single-bay Liitokala 100 charger works well and charges all sorts of cell sizes.

Can you give some info on the build ? Like the source of the reflector and the centering rings .

I put a lot of thought in how to make/find a suitable centering ring. It turns out if you file away some of the stock centering ring that comes with the F13, it works well with the new reflector. The OD of the centering ring is larger than the ID of the hole in the reflector, but it is close enough that it works to center the reflector. However, one of the centering rings was too small, so I couldn’t use it, which is why one of the lights does not have the proper centering ring.

Like I mentioned in the link above, the height of the reflector is 1.6mm too short, so I used an aluminum MCPCB (sanded down to bare metal) as a spacer under the MCPCB.

Received my light from EasyB today! Wow what a nice and extremely bright light! I also love the tint which is perfect for my needs.
It’s nice and dark at night where I live and I had fun playing with this bad boy after my sons football game this evening.
I can’t wait to take this torch to work ( and I’ll be praying for a power outage the whole time)

Received my F-13 today as well and I have to say I couldn’t be happier. This light really packs quite a punch for its size. I wasn’t familiar with the Ultrafire F-13 host before today. For me its the perfect EDC size, and has become my new favorite light. (even though its still daytime lol)

For anyone else not familiar with this host here are a few comparable sized lights

As far as performance goes the light that I can most compare it to (in regards to brightness) is the Trustfire TRJ-18 which is much larger and uses 7 x xml-T6 emitters.

does this also run on a 26650 cell?

No, it does not. The driver is a FET driver so it needs 2s input.

I have been using a triple-dedomed X6 (second image in the second post) from EasyB for the past month or so. Works like a charm. Nice, compact form-factor that still has enough thermal mass to get some high-output use without being unholdable, really solid host body, has rubber gaskets at all of the sealing points (I’m not worried about getting it wet, but I don’t have any information on how it’d fair submerged), and it has worked really reliably since I got it. Bright as heck for such a small light, and the driver is really nice in its versatility and customizability. It’s a slightly different light from what he’s offering here, but I can attest to the fact that he puts a lot of care into the planning and construction of his lights.
