In DC on vacation for a week, need suggestions.

I am in Washington, D.C. For a week, I was wondering if anyone here had suggestions for must see attractions, or must do activities...

The entire National Mall; Smithsonian, Air and Space Museum big hits. Changing of the Guard (Arlington Cemetery). Others may chime-in. I lived in Annapolis, MD (about 20 minutes from the White House) in the 90s, and prolly hit D.C. 50 times, and still didn't see it all.

I can't begin to suggest all the possibilities...good luck!

National Air and Space Museum would be my favorite. Touring the FBI building is kind of fun if you are short on time some day.

There's all kinds of free stuff in DC. Air and Space is good (you can easily spend a whole day there). If you're into that, there is the A&S annex near Dulles that you should check out too (if you have a car). The Smithsonians can probably keep you busy for a week all by themselves: museum of american history, natural history, all the art you can look at. The national zoo is good.

The mint is okay (paper money only; coins are philly and denver only). All the monuments: WW2, Korea, and Roosevelt are the newest and the MLK site officially opens this weekend. Kind of neat to do some of those at night too.

The White House tour is really good, but you need to get a ticket via your Senator or Congressman beforehand I think. Worth doing that in advance.
