Well, not in north america anyway. In Japan they have been available for over 3 years.

Probably their the same as the first Eneloops, just that in time with better testing, some have proved to last 5 years and now they have found out how to make them stable and hold a charger for 5 years.
1800 cycles they say. 5 years have 1800 days. One charge holds 1800 days. one battery can be charged 1800 times.
