Review ThruNite TH20 Headlamp

This is a review of the ThruNite TH20 Headlamp. The light was sent to me by ThruNite in return for my review , as always I give my honest opinion of the lights I review. Amazon Link for light HERE

First I did not mention in the video that this light has a “lock out” by turning the end cap 1/16 to 1/8 of a turn to prevent any accidental switching on. Also I wanted to say that one handed operation is NOT a problem when wearing the headlamp.

This is my first headlamp with any kind of quality , as all the others I have are the 4 or 5 dollar department store variety. The TH20 is a very solidly built light with nice anodizing and machining both. The headband is comfortable and the light stays in place well. You simply turn the light a bit in the holder to adjust it up or down more. I really like the Ramping or “infinity” firmware , as you can go to any brightness level , with NO predefined modes. The light also has mode memory , so it comes back on at whatever level you choose when the light is turned off and back on later. The “firefly” mode to me is just the right brightness , but that is my personal preference and may be more than some like.
Overall I am really liking the TH20 and for just under $30 I think it is a good buy for a nice quality light..

The rest is covered in the video , again please note that my cheap video camera DOES NOT show nearly as true to life as the still photos in the slide portion of the video , as to what your eyes see.

The video , links for different countries and the ThruNite main site that they supplied , followed by the listed specs .

Great review Robo819. This is my current favorite AA/AAA format headlamp. The bezel can come off to swap the emitter easily and the UI is great on this thing. I bent an extra clip I had to make it hat brim/shirt pocket worthy without the headband. A bit of scotch tape on the lens makes for a decent diffuser if you do not have any DC fix, but the stock beam is ok for me as well.

What I found out in this forum is, if there is a will, there is a way. These people here are awesome.

Thanks for the review, I think it is one of the nicest headlights that exists.

The bezel of my TH20 was pretty tight, but not glued or anything. I had to file a flat piece of iron to shape to get the bezel off (the light has a 6A3 tint 80CRI XP-L now Love )

Thsnks guys. I used my usual needle nose. Scarred the notches as I feared. Sad

Oh well, maybe I’ll strip the outside of the ring so it looks ok.

I hated that green xpl with a passion. Time for a 4000K Nichia. Hows. Noctigon there?

I.might try an optic for flood too.

Thanks Robo, Question about the UI. If I am infinity mode and have is set about 50 lumens. A double click will take me to turbo. Is there a easy way back to 50 lumens?

Yes if you have it set and double click into turbo , then simply do a quick click off , pause then quick click back on to get to the preset mode you had.

Great tip! I put the TH20 on my Christmas list, but was having second thoughts because it will mainly be used for very up close work (under cars, cleaning deer, etc) and thought something with a floody TIR might be better. Sounds like a great, easy (and reversible) solution.

I’ve seen guys talking about it, but never bothered looking it up until now. This stuff – window privacy film? Man, I had a big roll of it a couple years ago and threw away all the small pieces / scraps. Facepalm I’m sure my wife won’t notice a small circle of it missing from a window
