Texas_Ace fully modded 4000-8000 lumen 8x Skyray kings

Ok, first off I am putting them here and not in the commercial seller spot mostly because these are left overs and I will NOT be making any more of these. I am not even making minimum wage off the work in these.

So get them while you can!

Second some of these are “prototype” models with various levels of nicks and scratches (none effecting performance and most not very noticeable all not worth selling on ebay with their stupid rules and even worse buyers), about half of them from the factory and the other half the custom modding for the shelf.

Ok, I am listing these for sale here even though I know they are a bit more then most BLF’ers like to spend because I need to free up some funds ASAP for some other projects (gonna start making small batches of Texas Avenger drivers and going to be running a group buy for some 90+ CRI 219C LED’s, both of which need seed money that I do not have at the moment).

So here I have the ultimate Texas Ace 8x Skyray kings
with custom hand made 1/2” thick solid shelves
FET+1 V2 driver with temp sensor and copper contact plate for lower resistance and better heat sinking
Nice silicone wires
Screwed down MCPCB / reflector for max heat transfer.
20-26+ amps on high drain cells.
just under 4000 lumens at turn on the stock latticebright LED’s
Or I can upgrade one of them to 8000 lumens with XM-L2 U2 3D’s, I only have enough LED’s for one though.

The stock latticebright LED’s without spring bypasses actually work well, the tint is cool but not any worse then any other cool white light. The throw is actually impressive and MUCH better then with XM-L2’s. The XM-L2 version is the best flooder I own by far but the latticebright versions are a great general use light.

These make great hosts for extreme builds. My 8000 lumen version is my go to light for anything within 100m as it lights up EVERYTHING in that range. I also have plans to build an XHP50 version of one of these for 20k+ lumens.

These are easily the most extreme heat sinked Skyray king you can get.

So now for the actual lights, here are some random shots of various lights., I will list what I have left for sale in the next post.

Ok, so that is what is in each light, now for what I have left to sell. I can upgrade any of these to XM-L2’s for an extra fee, PM me about this if you are interested.

All prices are + shipping, I am gonna make things simple by saying $4 shipping in the US via first class mail in an envelope (it is just under the 15 oz limit like this) Or $7.50 for priority mail with a box.

I can toss in a set of 20-30 custom sized LED centering rings (I have 8-10 sizes pre-made but can custom make them to your desired size for a bit more) for an extra $2.50 if you buy a light.

I also have “combat rings” for the convoy S2+ for $5 if you buy something else (PM me for direct price with shipping)

I will try to get pictures of these as soon as I can get to my lightbox, you can request quick pics with my phone via PM until then if needed.

Serial number 1:

Black with blue switch button ring.
It came with some very bad anodization and I nicked it up some more during prototyping. It is not the prettiest light but it still puts out a lot of light and would make for a great mod base. It is priced accordingly.

The first prototype, it is pretty rough but works great. The entire top of the light is overlaid with different versions of my logo as I used this one to experiment with the laser engraving. I had planned to keep this one myself but I need the money, and I need it now so I am selling it. The shelf is not quite as good of a fit as the later versions and the heat transfer is every so slightly slower but it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference in performance, just in how fast it burns your hand lol.

Price : $50 - SOLD

Serial number 2:

Gray with blue button ring.
This one has a stock driver with an extra FET installed at the moment, this was during testing of drivers. I can install one of the FET+1 drivers like the rest for an extra $15 but figured someone might want a cheaper light and do a driver themselves later. It puts out a few less amps then the modded drivers naturally and the modes suck but here it is.

This one has some dents on the bottom side of the head, it is hardly noticeable when assembled but with the head off you see it. This was from trying to press in the shelf a bit too early. Here is a picture:

$55

Serial number 3

Gray with blue ring
Good cosmetic condition, just a few minor flaws as it came from china. mostly a small blemish on the bottom of the tailcap. the laser engraving was a mistake and printed 2 on it instead of 3 and the shelf was slightly less then perfect fit. Still sheds heat 10X better then stock but takes slightly longer to burn your hand.

$75 -

Serial number 6

Gold with Blue ring.
Great light overall, nothing to note other then slight gap in the shelf (the price of hand making 20 of these, they don’t all come out a perfect circle) The gap was filled with thermal silicone though and doesn’t seem to effect performance.

$75 due to gold not being a popular color. - SOLD

Serial number 7

Black with red button
This is the nicest one I have left (I was keeping it back for myself), perfect inside and out.

$90 - SOLD

I also have some extra FET+1 V2 drivers with temp sensors for sale here

Here are some old school factory Skyray kings with screw in shelves

If you have any questions please do ask, Yes, I know these are more then those on here generally want to pay.

Keep in mind there is a solid 4-6 hours worth of work in each one of these + all the little costs really add up. I will be honest, my costs averaged out to ~$45-50 each on these all said and done (excluding the tools and bits I had to buy in order to make them of course).

I’m interest in the driver and heat sink if price is not too steep.

I got a spare skr sitting in corner  need to pump some heat to it

I’d be interested in a xhp50 version depending on the price.

PM’ed

I would love to see a SKR sitting in the corner

Number 1 Sold! The rest are still up for grabs at this point.

Interested in #7. PM sent.

Got # 5 today. What can I say. Nice! It lit the field up…and the yards and the drive and the road and the bluff and the trees and……. This bad boy does throw a beam and with some serious flood. You must have an “in” with the Post Office. FAST!! Thanks. I really should go out and check the premise and fields now………and play lol

PM sent. XHP50’s would be very cool but sadly not cheap as it needs not only the LED’s but also the driver and tailcap pcb replaced with 2S versions.

It would make for one heck of a fun light though! For about 30 seconds, it would be putting out somewhere between 200-250 watts I would guess.

Number 7 sold!

Thanks for the review!

I truly love these lights, thats why I ended up keeping like 8 of them and have them all over the place. :sunglasses: They are the go to lights for all in the house when they know they will need light ahead of time.

The 4x 18650 means runtime is good even on laptop pulls as well which is nice (plus they run surprisingly well on laptop pulls, not as bright naturally but good brightness and runtime).

I honestly do not know of a better all around light for the size then a SRK type light.

How much would XHPs or XM-L2s run?

And I have an XM-L Black shadow Terminator, think it’s possible to convert it to XHP50? I ask because the Terminator battery compartment is very similar to the SRK.

No idea how I missed this, I never got an email letting me know there was a reply.

I am out of XM-L2’s at the moment and my XHP50’s I have are planned to go into my own SRK.

For the XM-L2 U2 3D that I used in mine the upgrade cost would be $50 + about a month for them to come in. For XHP50, well I need to make sure it works as expected first.

I expect for it to get too hot to hold within a minute of turning it on and produce well over 15,000 lumens. lol

Lists in OP are updated, still got everything listed for sale!

I’ll take #3
