Hey flashaholic fambly!
I’ve gotten myself in a bit of a predicament (Volkswagen helped me!) and will have to sell off some flashlights from my collection. I’m asking here about interest, as in what type of light might be wanted most and whether or not to include the cells inside. As y’all know, I have a thing for modding. I have a thing for pushing the limits, reducing restrictions to get the most from a light. That said, the vast majority of my lights are tweaked in this fashion. I tend to build em, test em, and put em on the shelf where they collect dust. lol There are a few I use on a semi-regular basis and those I’ll be keeping, but I should be able to sort out some 100 lights to sell in order to keep my wife from moidarizing me over our recent car purchase. (yes, I jumped the gun. we will be participating in the VW buy-back program but that might drag out further than anticipated and I’ve already bought a new Toyota Camry, so we have double the car payments and double insurance in the interim! Yikes!)
Virtually all of the lights I will list are in like new condition, built and tested then shelved. On occasion, a name brand light is glued and may take extreme measures to break into which might result in a bit of a scratch or chuck mark from my lathe. (I have found that mounting the light in the big 5” jaws with an aluminum sleeve between the light and the steel works wondrously, nothing can stand up to it, even Red Loctite)
My plan is to essentially try to recover actual costs of these lights, not make a profit on them. As such, pricing will reflect the cost of the light and cost of the materials to modify it. (mostly, probably less in 99% of these… meaning I’m more willing to take a bit of a hit just to recover some of the monies spent, so I can keep my car!)
If y’all show me here that this will go over well, I’ll get busy and photograph, test, and list the lights I will be tearing from their place in my soul.
Thanks for your help, really appreciate your input and the kindness shown on this forum.
