ThorFire BD 04 $10 Amazon

This light looks exactly like the Convoy version. It comes with a Samsung battery.
I got one yesterday and I am buying more as gifts.

Man, I need to start checking their Amazon page every day

I got one 3 weeks ago but do not like the clip on charger thing, feels like it is just begging to break.
It is a decent light but I’m am afraid muggles/newbies will break it right quick.

The kit with the bike mount and taillight is pretty cool for $3 more. I saw a video of the taillight in action and it has different modes, it’s neat.
May get one of those for use on a vintage mini bike.

Later,
Keith

I have !

I got several of these on order as gifts for family. Although I believe I have already given them several…over the years.

270 lumen with an 18650? The AA Jetbeam MK with a duracell is that bright, double that with a 14500, 1/3rd the size, no annoying strobe, and only a few dollars more

It’s a 1.5amp driver, but zoomies always have huge losses in the head. Props to Thorfire for accurate advertising

Yes it has 4×7135 chips, the figure of 270 lumens means they actually measured how much light gets outside the lens and provided the information... Which is incredible, even more so because for $10 you get a $4 18650 and a $19 flashlight

I wasn’t disappointed with the output.

I’m down. The bike light that came with my bike is pathetic (maybe 75 lumens). If I hate it, I’ll just keep it in the desk at work for muggles to borrow and use the mount to put a proper light on the bike.

No the Convoy clips are outstanding. I have tested BD01 and 06 and no sign of weakness (at least 4 charge cycles a day and 100 on off presses with clip and without
For months now and still working like new.
I see these as ideal muggle lights.

Thats good to here because i am giving these away to Muggles

Ordered one… do not have a good quality zoomie.

This review says it comes with a 4.35v battery. Does the light charge to 4.35v or 4.2v? I ordered one so I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

Got mine today.

Make sure you take off the cardboard pad on battery… And it’s adhesive left behind.
Make sure you put the battery in backward, POS to switch.

Yeah I didn’t read the Destructions. Got the insulator on the battery figured out fast but the polarity took a multimeter to test switch and battery current (Good). Full disassembly and a bench power supply to figure the polarity was switched on the driver (GRRR).

Yuck on the tint and huge emitter square focused tight. Feels light and cheaply made with no battery installed.
Battery is the Samsung ICR 30B, 4.35V. Out of the box battery voltage is 4.21V DC. Will see what the supplied charger does.

Mine hasn’t even shipped yet (I don’t have Prime though.) Supposedly the head is glued in -> do you mind seeing if you can take a look? Thanks!

Yeah,
Bezel is glued… I got it off with bare hands though.
Pill glued in tube, Pliers worked easily. Pliers on pill tube in bare hand, no problem.
Glue is soft, not crazy glue.

Light by itself, I do not think would be worth $10
However being rechargeable and coming with a decent quality battery and charger makes it worth it.

Ran light on High for about 20min, hooked up charger. Light turned Green, removed and tested battery voltage on 2 different DMM. 4.04V DC. Long way from the 4.35V battery rating. Have battery in my 4 bay now.

Does anyone have the similar Convoy model for comparison?

I’m surprised they send a 4.35v battery if it only charges to < 4.2v. Is the driver easy to take out and does it have an Attiny13? Since it comes with disco modes I’d prefer to flash the drive or drop another one in.

Thanks

Thank you :+1:

& I guess the charger coming up short is still much better than the cell voltage coming off high. At least I wouldn’t have to worry about it being used. If the one I have coming does the same thing then I’ll just stick pack pulled 4.2v 18650 cell in there & use the included cell somewhere else…

Driver is 17mm with a brass shim soldered on to make the 18.9mm press fit. Pill has a full shelf for emitter. Driver is Attiny13 and actually surprised me with 7135*4 @ 380mA.

Thanks for the info on the driver, it should be straight-forward enough to flash it. I didn’t know that the Samsung 30B’s came in yellow. Is that just an effect from the flash or is it truly yellow?
