The yellow highlights are orders he has not received (or not updated yet) the phone number for.

Please check the list for your order if you have any questions.

Is the list in order by people who ordered first?

I know that there is no need for panic but i also don’t see my name on the list.

I am eager to have this thing in my hands. Ive never been this excited for a flashlight.

I’m not so much excited, instead I’m a bit scared

First, I would like to commend everybody involved on the development of such an Outrageous Flashlight.

I already knew I was a Flashoholic (as do all of my Neighbors’ and now the ones across the lake are going to be especially fond of me) well before I came across this site.

Please add me to the list I would like to order Two (2) of these amazing lights including 24 of the 18650 cells to go with this Amazing Beast.

Thanks in advance

I’m not the first, some others already had notifications too.

I tried to figure this out myself, but couldn’t. BeardedRaleigh said he was the first to order and his name is first on the list. Was he really first to order or did he see his name on the list and just assumed he was the first.

I know some of the people who have ordered in the last few days are not on the list – yet.

I guess it makes sense that it’s in order of payments. Maybe some of the people who ordered as soon as they got their PM can chime in if they are at the front of this list or at the middle or rear.

I ordered with in 10 minutes of the PM and at 24 on that list. In no hurry or anything just some info. Dec 1st late at night, I was actually about to go to bed when I got my PM email from BLF.

I paid for my GT within a few minutes of getting the P.M., and I’m #10 on the list. Looks like the list may be in order of payment received. I’m hoping the lights are shipped in the same order. Wink

I paid several hours later.

I’m prob just over half way down the list so I agree that it looks to be in paid order.

New * Cree XD16* , extreme density LED. This could be a game changing LED for throw lights.

The black flat does 900lm/mm^2. You can also see from the datasheet that the 726 lumens at 2A is already at 400% output and it doesn’t look like it will increase to much more than 500 or 600% from the curve. Assuming that you can get 2-3x more lumens like other cree LEDs that would still be less than 600-900lm.

Cree’s 12/6/17 press release says it the first led to surpass 280lm/mm^2 lumen density. I know the top throwing emitters are in the 230-250 cd/mm^2. The units are different lm/mm^2 and cd/mm^2 but they are very related. So, does the Oslon chip really have 3.2x the lm/mm^2 of cree’s latest?
http://www.cree.com/news-events/news/article/cree-launches-industrys-fir...

Yes it does. High density chips from Cree were never about high luminance. They have a high lumen density in terms of package size. It’s all about putting really big dies on really small packages.

High luminance requaires a very different kind of LED. It needs to have a very low thermal resistance and needs to tolerate a very high current/power density. Effieciency will always be low when you go the the absolute limits.

BTW: there is a rough formula for the luminance based on lumens/mm^2 (area of die, not package). Just multiply the value with pi (only works for de-domed LEds which are basically lambertian emitters).

So using your formula and Cree’s specs of 280lm mm^2 * pi = 880cd mm^2 at the manufacture’s rated current of 2A. If I remember correctly the flat black achieves it’s max around 5-6A. I’m just wondering how this compares. I know the manufactured is saying it has 5x the lumen density of previous gen cree leds. None of this matters if they don’t produce a larger version with adequate output, but it’s interesting.

When looking at the datasheet click on the heading for column A, a drop down menu will appear, click on sort A-Z.
This will give you the list sorted by your interest list number, the column of numbers on the left are just the line numbers of the database Wink

Cheers David

I have no idea what those notifications are about, according to Neal earlier today they are not shipping until next week.

I think it is in the order that Neal saw the payments, so roughly in the order people paid.

Ok, I do have a bit of a personal update.

I had been off work the last few weeks for the holidays which is why I was able to take on this full time job of this group buy but I was just informed that I will have to return to work earlier then planned.

So I will not be around much after today. Hopefully the Miller shows back up and can keep things on track.

I had signed up to do the design process, so I was not prepared for this side of things. Thanks to the rest of the team for pulling together to make this happen as well.

I will try to keep up with things as best I can but I generally only get a few mins in the morning to myself, so that could be hard.

The next round of PM’s are almost ready to go, just waiting on one last details and then we will start the process of sending them out tomorrow or saturday (well, Scott and SB will).

Luckily most of the hard work is done at this point, so after this Neal should be able to get your payments and ship out the lights.

The big waterproof padded case at Harbor Freight is $40. It has enough room for the length of the GT with over 2 inches to spare. The biggest con about it is the plastic it’s polypropylene and doesn’t appear to be fiberglass reinforced. That’s probably okay for a few years of use, or indefinitely as a shelf queen, but I’d accept that for now until I find a nice deal on a tougher case.

I just bought one of these today. It seems very heavy duty and surprisingly well made to me! Will make a ridiculously overkill case for my BLF GT.

There is a current 25% off coupon available ( www.hfqpdb.com – no affiliation) that brought the cost to $30 + tax. Unprecedented in my opinion for this Pelican type case.
