my modded tn 42 used to shoot 760k lux on this meter forever when i got it, so i think its actually reading low at the moment
the GT is spot on to what they said it would be
i was hoping for 1.5 mill lux, but its good enough for me, pushing 1.3 mill lux Wink
ill get some beamshots tonight

Got mine too! Looks like srwaite and goshdogit beat me to the punch. Was going to post my unboxing photos, but they’re nearly completely identical to @goshdogit, so I’ll wait and post beam shots tonight.

@srwaite, where did you get that strap? That looks perfect.

I do have one observation about the light that seems a bit odd to me. When the top and bottom are tightened completely on the threads, the two areas to fasten the strap are on opposite sides. The one on the bottom of the flashlight is facing up, when the grommet in the mid-center of the light is facing down. Seems like they both should be facing down. … picture to follow.

I posted already in another thread, but the registered mail European GT’s will be shipped in January. And if you consider a shipping time of 3 weeks at least, we have to wait for a while. Luckily we can follow the joy of the US members, as the GT is something special.

When europe dhl will be shipped?

It will be next week (which will be next year) for sure but past that we don’t know.

They seem to be shipping it by pallet with DHL and kind of following the DHL shipping pattern on where the next lights go.

I have a feeling it is hard to get enough lights to individual country’s in the EU as most people over there went with registered mail.

They have not really given us much on how and why the shipping is being done like it is.

I wish they would spread it out worldwide or better yet just go in the order they were paid, that we we could get a wider range of reviews and uses. But seeing as they were not making anything off most of these so far, I can’t argue with them wanting to save a little money by combining the shipments to the same countries.

The strap is this one:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Rifle-Tactical-Quick-Release-Adjustable-2...

The ring on the tailcap of the light can be rotated until it aligns with the other end. Just give it a push.

Things should start getting real interesting in about 6 hours when it gets dark on this side of the world.

I thought the one on the tail rotated.

(I’m searching for the picture/video now.)

heatwaves…. it sounds to me you are talking about the tri-pod mount on the bottom. There is another strap attachment point back on the tail cap.

The lanyard ring around the tailcap rotates independently of the tailcap’s threads.

Mine is hard to turn, not ‘twirlable’ like the prototype in VOB’s video.

Click play below to jump to the section of his video that shows the spinning ring.

When europe dhl will be shipped?

I received email from Neal (because all that mixup with shipping method and then batteries included/not included…) on Thu, Dec 28, 2017 at 2:24 PM,
he sayed my light (with 8 samsung cells) will be shipped today but no other info, like DHL tracking number, was provided.

Not sure why the strap connectors are facing in different directions when fully tightened.

Perfect! Thanks so much for explaining it (and to other commenters as well)! Mine was just a little stiff at first, but now seems to be moving fine.

The tailcap ring should rotate with a little effort to match whatever you want.

Also there is another mounting point higher up on the end I would recommend for attaching a strap, it will be better balanced.

Every time I see that video I can’t help thinking that every Londoner should have had a GT during the blitz. If the AAA gunners couldn’t hit their targets as they were flying, then at least the bombardier would have been blinded and just seeing a blue ball floating in front of his eyes.

I wonder who the first person will be to signal the ISS with their GT?

BTW, VOB, that video just doesn’t get old and neither does your obvious enthusiasm.

Anyone going to Easy Off their bezel?

I think I might, Like my D1S. Maybe polish and give it the oil/burn treatment.
