LATEST NEWS: Same as last couple of days.

It appears that the first shipment went out by region instead of the exact order in which we paid for cost reasons. Initial quality has been fantastic.

The first shipment of lights (168 total) shipped on Dec 23. This was a pallet going to the USA from the first 576th person on the paid list that did not include batteries. Tracking numbers went out on Dec 27 and lights started arriving to customers on Dec 29th. DHL shipping was very fast.

There should be a European order going out in January.

The next group to purchase lights (#1000 and up on the list) will get their emails mid January instead of early January in order to let Neal get caught up with current orders.

Lund1660 did your dad have it on turbo? If I remember correctly there is high mode but a double click yields turbo. (anybody, am I correct on that?)

No harm in asking I suppose.

This site isn’t really custom made, not from scratch. Its Drupal, almost certainly leveraging their pre-made forum module. Its customized a bit I know, maybe enough to make something like what was suggested a bit easier, but I’m sure there’s still tons of “stock” Drupal code running here. And yeah, doing something like changing the owner of a thread isn’t usually as easy as it sounds.

I went back a few pages, but I guess not far enough to find my answer. Lights with batteries haven’t shipped right? I requested DHL and paid on December 1st and am #81 on the list.

So far the same as you. Only shipping info received, no pickup.
That status is from Saturday 30 december. I hope the status will change today or tomorrow, that means I could have it here by Friday or Saturday if then deliver on Saturday.

FWIW, the bezel comes off fairly easily using a car tire to grip it. Wink

The glass lens is 125.6mm in diameter, 2.9mm thick. The AR coating seems to have still been wet when mine was assembled, the o-ring was stuck to it so strongly that it left some black bits of rubber behind on the lens when I removed it.

The AR coating seems to be pretty good, with the white emitter I used (unknown power bin) I was seeing 2049.31 lumens with the lens installed. With no lens at all I see 2176.95 lumens, only a 127.65 lumens drop from the lens. Very decent.

Anyone know if the driver can handle 6S cell voltage?

Overall runtime would decrease, but it would be nice to have a longer regulated Turbo mode.  In addition to cell carrier modifications, the LVP would need to be adjusted.

While admiring our GTs shortly after unboxing, my friend wondered how the tailcap and its spinning lanyard ring worked. I don’t recall seeing photos of it disassembled. As I mentioned earlier, mine was much more difficult to turn than my friend’s. It certainly was not 'twirlable' like the prototype in VOB's video. _Click play to watch the section of Matt's video that shows the tailcap lanyard ring._
Curiosity got the best of me today, and I decided to find out how the tailcap was constructed, and why mine was hard to spin. Click the photos to "embiggen":https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/embiggen. The sticker inside the tailcap hides four blind holes. The scratches are my fault. !{width:40%}https://i.imgur.com/eAdgbjK.jpg!:https://i.imgur.com/eAdgbjK.jpg !{width:40%}https://i.imgur.com/cHFQ8OX.jpg!:https://i.imgur.com/cHFQ8OX.jpg I used my small needle nose pliers to loosen the inner piece. +*It's reverse threaded.*+ !{width:40%}https://i.imgur.com/5OywB8a.jpg!:https://i.imgur.com/5OywB8a.jpg !{width:40%}https://i.imgur.com/ft9CW42.jpg!:https://i.imgur.com/ft9CW42.jpg The tailcap is made of three parts and two o-rings. !{width:40%}https://i.imgur.com/8ThhL3M.jpg!:https://i.imgur.com/8ThhL3M.jpg The large piece has an o-ring that the spinning ring slides along. *The o-ring was not seated properly in the groove and was partially pinched.* I had removed and reinstalled it before these photos. !{width:40%}https://i.imgur.com/Pb6hhLg.jpg!:https://i.imgur.com/Pb6hhLg.jpg !{width:40%}https://i.imgur.com/Zba8KC5.jpg!:https://i.imgur.com/Zba8KC5.jpg I removed both o-rings, lubricated them, and reinstalled them. !{width:40%}https://i.imgur.com/W2BA41Z.jpg!:https://i.imgur.com/W2BA41Z.jpg After reassembling the tailcap, my lanyard ring spins much easier. I think it has just the right amount of resistance. I reinstalled the sticker inside the tailcap to help protect the anodizing and to further insulate the rear carrier.

Thanks for the very good description of the lanyard ring. Mine was barely turnable until I took it apart as you described and lubed it up better. Now it turns easier but still tight enough so I am not worried about it letting water through.

As for the threads being reversed, they are still right-handed but because you are turning the part out the back instead of the front it seems backwards compared to many things that use a spanner to loosen. So if someone else does this just turn the center piece clockwise. Don't think of it as a left-handed thread.

Probably not.
Why would the overall runtime decrease?
To total capacity stays the same.
Only the driver might be little bit more inefficient.

Lol NVM you said 6s instead of 8s…. Facepalm

^ Probably because the only way to make 6S connection with the GT stock carriers is to use 3 batteries in carrier with 4th slot populated only with dummy cell and then mod the carriers to connect in series instead of parallel setup. So there will be 6 total batteries instead of 8.

Good point. LOL It’s like loosening a bolt from the tail end.

Hold the tailcap stationary and turn the needle nose pliers clockwise to remove the inner threaded piece.

Technically the buck IC can handle 6S input, although the rest of the components on the driver would need to be adjusted for that. Lot more work then it is worth IMO.

I would think the only driver change would be R1/R2 and maybe firmware adjustment for LVP.  The LDO is good up to 24v.  Maybe some the caps would need to be upgraded, but I would probably just wait until they complained.  I haven't worked with that buck converter yet.  So maybe there would be more involved than I expect.

You could get away with that possibly, although the switching frequency and other factors were not setup for higher voltage.

Although for a 2.5A output you could get away with it. DEL would be the one to answer that.

OK, so I found out why my light shipped so soon. Mine arrived w/o cells. I paid for cells but they were conspicuously absent. How do we proceed?

May I suggest something? As long as they get it right next time, I have a 2nd light coming in. It would make sense to ship the cells with that light. But if that will confuse them it would require shipping them now to complete my order. I’m willing to wait as long as it’s done correctly next time. But again, I want it done right and I don’t care how it gets done. It would have been best to get it right the first time. My brother would have been made happier since this was going to be his light, but he required cells. I do have cells, so I guess he waits.

How do you know the light you received was the first one you ordered with batteries and not what you thought was the second one without?

Hi everybody,

I'M NEEDING SOME HELP. I have to ship my BLF GT Flashlight to USA, then forward it to my country. That's the only way I can buy and receive it safely due to Customs regulations

(IF shipped by DHL, there's a chance I can ship it directly to my country. Not sure yet, it can be difficult to get my package)

I'd REALLY appreciate those who can provide me the following information and details in order to select the proper way to manage shipment, customs declarations, etc.

DIMENSIONS:

What are the dimensions of the BOX shipped from China? (I'll appreciate in centimeters, if possible)

WEIGHT:

What's the weight of the BOX shipped from China?

PICTURES:

Could someone post some pictures of the BLF GT besides something common like a bottle of Coke (please, I need the content size of the bottle to be visible, or let me know how much it is).

Some other pics to get clear ide of size may also help

SHIPPING - VALUE DECLARATION:

- Can I select my shipping by DHL to USA but tell them to declare the REAL VALUE? (Essential for Customs clearance later in my country)

- If I select DHL, can it be shipped to Uruguay (South America)? (if I choose this, the Customs declaration value and details MUST be exact, otherwise my package will be retained and HUGE inconveniences to me to get it...)

- Can I select my shipping by China Registered Airmail, with the REAL VALUE declared?

I do know about the "Customs declaration Survey" thread, but since Neal handles a LOT of messages & shipments, I'm VERY concerned to get the correct Customs declaration, otherwise I'll have lot of troubles.

For me it's not as easy as just shipping to USA, which doesn't require so strict customs forms, etc. for purchases under $200 like this one.

-- Thank you all very much in advance for your understanding and help!

Because only the light with cells was supposedly shipped. I was in the first batch and I know what I paid for it. The 2nd light will be shipped in a few weeks and they haven’t shipped yet. Pretty simple. Easier yet, I can read the list.

I think they were just doing what they could to fill an initial pallet to ship out
