Nice to hear a reason. I am happy to wait. Last I heard Coyotehawk said there is no guarantee above 1500 on the list. I am 1642.

It was actually Texas_Ace. Here is his qoute.

Ok, I just got up. The GB officially closed at midnight last night but it looks like there were only a handful of people that requested to be added after that. So to keep things simple, everyone up to now will be added to the list but like I said earlier, if we run out of the 1500, then that is it. No guarantees after that.

Most likely it will be a first paid, first to claim a GT type of deal when the next set of PM’s go out. Anything else will add a lot of complications to an already overworked team.

The first 1049 people on the sign up list resulted in 850 actual orders (a lot of early sign up’s forgot all about this light). Now there are 650 lights left and 712 people to account for them. A certain percentage (smaller than the first group) will probably decide not to purchase. So there is a good probability that everyone that is on the list will get one for the group buy price. If not, well there is usually a sale on the retail versions.

Reading all of this, I would also say that getting lights out faster is way more important then slight improvements in reflector quality.

I am happy to wait for the best quality possible. Im sure there are many others who feel the same way.

Are there already shipped GT’s with registered shipping option for Europe?

I see that some folks in Europe recieved the GT by DHL.

I’m willing to wait for my GT for good quality instead of fast shipping! That being said, I want my GT’s with V3 reflectors! LOL Big Smile

Hi guys, a question (this was probably discussed 10K posts earlier) can firmware from GT be ported to ordinary Astrolux A6 driver? I know, there are many differences in the hardware but still, maybe!

Slight problem with mine. It has been returned ‘due to containing lithium batteries that were not declared by he shipper.’ I paid on the 2nd December, please re-send it to me, sounds like you need to declare the batteries…?

Sounds like something that would happen in Australia not the UK lol, Australian customs is a nightmare!

I’m in England. Never had a problem ordering lights, cameras, computers, or anything else using li-ion batteries, from ANYWHERE in the world (including lots from gearbest over the last year or so) or sending electronics back home when I’ve been away, so I was a bit surprised to hear this as a reason.
From the tracking information it never actually left HK, so it doesn’t appear to have been a UK customs issue.

Strangely enough, the text, and tracking info came from FedEx. The only other thing I have ordered from outside the UK recently is a shirt (not from HK), and to the best of my knowledge, that didn’t include batteries of any kind, let alone li-ion ;).

Not fussed about receiving it by a particular timescale-I think the team has done us proud so far-just want to make sure it doesn’t go back…and stay there!

If it came from FedEx it probably won’t be the GT. the team said it was DHL or registered mail. I can’t see why you’d get it via FedEx and no one else in the UK would have spoken up about delivery

Too bad one got returned for missing LiIon notification.
Mine came with DHL and had two big stickers declaring LiIon batteries inside and some text about confirming to packaging and shipping regulations for DHL.

But then DHL might very well have their own internal system for labeling and shipping LiIon batteries that is independent of the mail system. E.g. by shipping them only on aircraft that do not have passengers.

Fusion,

See post #5 on the first page. You are slated for the 3rd round of PMs.

Names Request 2017-12-01 PMs 2017-12-09 PMs 3rd round PMs
fusion_m8 1065 0 0 1

The 3rd round of PMs has not gone out yet, and probably won’t until the lights from the first two rounds have shipped. Last I heard the 3rd round of PMs may go out in February.

The PM will give you a link to a web page and password for the web page, not a paypal address.

Hi,

I just checked the list in #5.
I´m at position 767 in PMs at 2017-12-09 PMs, but I got payment info for first round $111 shipped and payed this.

Also I got payment info from Neal per Mail at 2017-12-04 with text:

Thank you for your purchase! You ordered the following item(s):
BLF GIGAThrower (Registered mail) x 1 – $101.78

Am I in secound round now? Have I to pay more?

That is pretty much DHL’s requirements for shipping batteries, of course they need to follow IATA as well. Any regular joe, or business can ship certain volumes of batteries and cells, over said volume needs to be an approved shipper with DHL otherwise it’ll get rejected at the gateway once the driver brings it back, idealy rejected at the pickup location when the driver inspects the shipment. For the volume they’re sending out and the fact you confirmed LiIon stickers they know what they’re doing and following the rules. Most likely was just human error and missed a declaration of some sort.

To answer your second question, according to IATA:

Quote:

Prohibitions
Lithium ion batteries.
All lithium ion cells and batteries shipped by themselves (UN 3480) are forbidden for transport as cargo on passenger aircraft. All packages prepared in accordance with Packing Instruction 965, Section IA, IB and II, must bear a Cargo Aircraft Only label, in addition to existing marks and/or labels.

Edit: Now that I think about it they’re probably more likely 966 rather than 965 but I believe they’re more or less the same.

I can’t not find that model of light. Do you mean the BLF A6/Astrolux S1?

NarsilM is what is used in the GT and that is for use with an e-switch. Mechanical switch lights can’t use it.

Although, I believe ToyKeeper has a ramping firmware that can work with a clicky switch light, but it requires a new driver.

Are you talking about the Astrolux S42? Texas_Ace was doing some driver development for Astrolux to put NarsilM on that light in the future. In fact, Lexel has a driver running NarsilM for it. More details can be found here.

Not so fast. We don’t even know if that was the GT or something else. Plus it was Fedex, plus it never left China. We should not jump to conclusions.

I just can’t imagine the conundrum of Neal’s predicament.

Understandably, some members are complaining about Neal’s non-reply of any email or message in any form just to know the real status from the man himself, (of which he can easily do,)

BUT,

on the other hand, if he is indeed in Lumintop’s factory personally attending the packing and checking change of addresses, messages regarding orders with batteries or not, change of couriers, etc. etc., imagine how much of Neal’s time will be allocated just to answer these messages, then delaying the first scenario.

….and that does not include the reported quality concerns of the reflectors that has added to the delay.

Oh well, patience is key in this situation.

500 lights have shipped out of 850 orders. Yours is probably one of the 350 that have not shipped yet.

I still find it hard to believe that it is a GT that has been stopped. Why would Neal/Lumintop use FedEX to ship instead of DHL. You’d think that they’d have a deal with a shipping firm and if you’re shipping hundreds of units you’d send them all via the same method.

I’m sure Neal could confirm.
