Henlin SL-3570, 35/70W HID

I just got my hands on one of these a few weeks ago and thought I would compare it to some of the other HID’s I purchased or built. It’s a pretty decent light.

The video is about 13 minutes long.

The Henlin is a really nice light. I do love the warmth and sheer brightness of HID’s.

Curious what one of those cost?

I have the 85w hid in this review and it is much brighter than yours.
I bought it in 2012.
By all estimations it does around 6k lumens on high.

The Henlin is $590.00USD plus shipping. They use Panasonic 18650’s in their battery pack. The price point is pretty nice compared to the Lemax LX70 or Polarion PH50D. I have owned its predecessor for over 5 years and it has held up very well on all my caving trips. I am just now having to replace the battery packs.

Regarding the Ebay 85W, this is a generic light and private labeled by many. I have never been able to find out who makes it. Even though I bought an 85W, it could be a lesser power. Also, maybe my battery pack is going sour. I owned another generic HID like this one in the past. The Battery packs use cheap generic cells. Don’t expect to find Panasonics, Samsungs or LG’s in the packs. I typically notice run times diminishing after 9-10 months of ownership. For the price, it’s not a bad deal. I use it a lot to give cave tours for scouts. I consider it a disposable light.

I much prefer the design of the Fire-Foxes FF4. That is a great light for $225. Worth every penny in my book. It is compact and powerful. You also can buy good quality batteries to power it. If one battery goes bad, it’s a lot cheaper to replace it than a whole battery pack like the Ebay 85W. I would mention the FF4 gets pretty warm after running it on high for a few minutes. That being said, I really really like it. Here’s my review of the FF4:
