If you are handy and have the tools, there are a lot of nice things you can make with wood, from really nice furniture / art to mechanical gadgets of all sorts.
I think if i had a house with a little place where i could work with metal and wood, i would only be in the house to eat and sleep.

In leu of my educations i would prefer to work in Metal, so need the tools and machines for that, and with a lotto win right after house buy / build, would come machine buying.
And maybe wayyyy down the line buying of toys like a lotto winner normally do

Lathe ( maybe CNC ) mill – welders – plasma cutters ASO are high on my wish list, wayyyy higher than any Italian sports car.

Hi Guys, and a Happy New year of music to you all…

There is another memorable group that I don’t think we’ve mentioned in this ocean..
And the band I’m talking about is…The Band!!

I love The Band. I’ve got most of their albums on vinyl. And I also have The Last Waltz on DVD. I have to say Music From Big Pink and Stage Fright are my favorites.

Happy New Year to all of you loving music friends!

We can change hobby, car, wife/partner probably also, but it seems as though the addiction to the music remains to the end… Star
I am happy that we have this nice forum. Smile

Thank you Robowski for The Band reminder.
They are invariably milestone along the highway of the rock for me.

The Band … the Weight 1969 @ woodstock live

Glenn, I can tell you one more time that I envy you for seeing live, many of the legends of the music of our time.
This can not be repeated…

I’ve found here in the topic useful info that I have never met before.
Thanks sparkyDK for the info about CBGB’s and the Marquee club. I missed this.

Cheers…

I’d like to share something I’ve seen on TV since the Christmas days …

There was an action here to help the homeless because of the cold weather.
One of them, a tramp with an almost invisible face of beard and dirt, was asked what the reason was in that state, and so on.
Accordingly, he pointed to some reasons that led him to this state.

The last question to him was what was the big (it sounded like his last) desire, which he wants to be realized.
And the answer was: I want to go to a concert of Deep Purple…

This post is especially for this spirit that you either have or not!

Stormbringer are such a awesome track, and if i ever get my hands on a time machine, going back to the early 74ties to go to a concert of theirs are high on the list.
And it should be okay as in 1974 for instance i was just 8 years old, so no chance of running into myself and create a paradox.
I have been listening to DP since 1978 or so, cuz that was the right stuff to grow up on. Thumbs Up

I am thankful for being born at the right time just before the birth of rock music.
My earliest music memories were my older brothers playing their Elvis and Cliff Richard and The Shadows records. I remember when I heard the Beatles for the first time on the radio, and soon after that, the Rolling Stones.
The great thing about that time was that we listened to the great rock legends while they were still alive. __
We anticipated the release of their new albums and couldn’t wait to buy them.
Sadly, we also read in the news when they died, like Jimi, Janis, Jim Morrison, and John Lennon.
We also discovered a lot of these bands when they released their first album.

Discovered this little gem last week. This track is very well produced and includes some nice low end bass, in addition to being a decent song. For this reason, it is often used to audition speakers, assuming you can find it on a CD or get a hold of a lossless version.

Been a huge fan of Canned Heat since the late 1960’s. This classic lineup was my favorite. Bob “The Bear” Hite, Alan “Blind Owl” Wilson”, Henry “Sunflower” Vestine, Larry “The Mole” Taylor, and Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra. Can’t forget Harvey “The Snake” Mandel when Henry left the band.

This is one of the many tunes I loved by them.

Another version of Walking By Myself done live by Gary Moore. Great version!

Good base Glenn for Walking By Myself,

Two more performances of this song:

Walking by myself – Jimmy Rogers – maybe the first record of this song – 1956;

and the original

T-Bone Walker – Why not

Have this album in Quad version first one that made my JVC 4VR-5446 receiver light up the CD4 indicator.
Thanks for the reminder of needing to give it another listen.

Wow! A quad system. That technology didn’t last long. I went to a stereo store in the early to mid 70’s that had a quad system setup. It was pretty impressive.

All we knows who is Ronnie James Dio.
I would like to add just one piece – the first and maybe only one memorial of the hero…

The World’s Only Ronnie James Dio Memorial

No comment about the quality of monument…

It’s the same place where July Morning starts as is a national celebrating here in Bulgaria…

Mix with folklore from the Balkan region:

Goran Bregović – Bella Ciao

And my favorite song of:
Goran Bregovic – Kalashnikov

Eurovision 2008 version of the song isn’t so attractive.

While i do call myself well versed onto the world of music, then truth be told probably as much as i would like to think.
For instance classical music i don’t really listen to as much as i should, but then some times classics come together on a higher level and you can swat 2 flies in one go.

So nice we have a National symphony orchestra that are brave.
