How to prevent patina on copper flashlight?

I recently received my Lumintop Copper Tool and am looking for a way to preserve its shiny finish if anyone has a suggestion? Really not a fan of vintage look. TIA

edit: Is the smell that bad after using the copper flashlight for awhile?

Clear laquer/spray paint?

Penny-hand stink is why I’m not a fan of all-copper lights. Folks love ’em, though, and I wouldn’t deny anyone the choice.

Clear coat the light or use ketchup on it once in awhile and it will shine right back up!

“Honey, why are you putting Heinz on the flashlight?!?”

ketchup?

Yup, it shine copper right up! It only takes seconds and you can wipe the tarnish right off. Can’t imagine why one would want to… but to each their own!

I have seen a couple of youtube video leaving the flashlight in ketchup overnight when I was searching the net and just tried some copper pennies on ketchup few hours ago but noticed my hands got ketchup/orange stain while cleaning/rinsing the pennies… I wonder if that will affect the copper flashlight, no?

I also found another quick way to clean the copper is vinegar+salt.

edit: @mattlward, thanks anyway

It’s the vinegar and salt in it.

Electroplate it with rose-gold

I’m not the type of person to go for “old school”. To me, “patina” means tarnished, uncared-for junk. I like sparkly, shiny, new because that’s much harder to maintain for bare copper/brass.

Then again, I like even older-school than that and I think, “Chrome ALL the things!”

Ketchup(red /tomato sauce) works very well, used it on a cu prince and came up like new. Wire wool also works well, but more work and can leave very fine scratches.

how would one do this?

Catsup.

“it tastes nicer, dear!”

i’ve only used salt and vinegar… removes the patina and makes it look like new. following that up with brasso brings it to a higher level of shine, which some people might not like, but it also keeps it looking great for longer - staves off tarnishing/patina.

You could let it be plated with AURUNA® 502 Coppergold-elektrolyte or other types

Its not too difficult to do it with on you own when you can get some of it.

But its not cheap stuff

That’s nice!

Here I thought I was the only one who liked shiny copper.

If ‘Bort’ doesn’t get this joke - I’ll chop one leg off lol.

Get chopping, “i think i am in over my head”

Haha goddam. Even a video clip to boot, love it!

I shall set aside the surgical saw at this stage. I’m lucky
