Finally a decent priced latern upgrade for presumably 501 host!

http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=9968

Always tought it was overpriced at more than 7usd which usualy was (actually way more).

I've got one, didn't fit my 501 but reports from other people say it fits theirs. Mine is on a very old Superfire 501D.

Don't buy this ..unless you're ready for a lantern adapter that doesn't fit anything you own ..i tried 12 lights ..it's a no-go

I got excited for a moment. Damn - I really want a lantern

works fine on a 504b

Cool yard lights

******* Boaz Bad Buy

Edit : I hate you tas62 ...

what ..?? Do you own a machine shop ??

I am excited again. Will make a nice portable nav light when I go boating

I'm gonna try very hard to reconcile myself to that..

..OK, done.

Good news! i always wanted one for 504b anyway, Fitting only 501 hosts was more a con than a pro.

I tried to place and order 2 days ago. It showed available for shipping before i submitted the order but show back order in my account so i had to get a refund.

I did the same thing just now, and it still show back order ONLY after i submitted the order. WTH

Mine is still pending? Anyone else sell these?

With KD you often get Pending or Backordered for a few days but will usually ship within 7 days. They only seem to ship once a week.

Either they change the threads on the 501's or the lantern enclosures very often. Look here for details..

Nice, i paid around $20 for a Solarforce lantern head which looks exactly the same as that one. Currently i use my Nitecore D11 v2 with a piece of silicone sleeve jammed into the hole on my lantern for camping duty but as i have a 504b sitting drop-in less in a drawer it would be rude not to get one of those lanterns and put together a dedicated lantern setup especially at that price!

I just bought a Solarforce lantern and I am not very pleased with the product. If you have an old L2 tube laying around it is quite ok, but I definitely would recommend you to try one of my low budget alternatives before you spend any money on a Lantern kit.

Both of them give better light output at a much lower cost.

- (Translucent) Film canister. If it is too small to fit your flashlight head, boil it in water and fit it to your flashlight head while hot. Heating the plastics to 120 degrees celsius in your oven works as well.

- White plastic medicine jar. I have found a large one which fits perfectly without any modifications. Less light output than the film canister due to the thicker white plastics, but the larger size is nice and more bulb like.

They both do. The film canister gives better light output due to more translucent plastics, but a large medicine jar has a large surface area and has a very eye-friendly light.

It would also be a true con given that 501's won't tailstand without a mod..............lol

I have something like that, was with with my solarforce l2

but don't use it

And I bought also that:

It works like a translucent film protector, maybe a bit more efficient, is very versatile and don't need to unscrew the flashlight, I can carry that in my folder keeping it on the bottom, the tail of the flashlight have smaller diameter of the head so it fit inside.

...and indoor is way more efficient coz the white ceiling reflect the light giving uniform and more comfortable light

Almost any plastic jar will work as a budget lantern.

I recieved a dino direct ultrafire 504B and excitedly grabbed the kai domain lantern adapter and screwed the two together ..Yay !!...OOPPPS no it screws on only partially ..

This is what happened to a couple of the ultrafires i had previously tried .

Clearly we have some confusion over what works here and what doesn't . The lantern head is supposed to shove the p-60 host down into the host body to create a path for heat to be transered ..I had another host that screwed on BUT without driving it all the way down......The drop in isn't touching any wall at all .

If you ever thought a P-60 was bad beacuse of it's lack of ability to transfer heat properly ...Imagine this is 1000 times worse .

I go back to my original statement

These are pure junk ..DON'T buy them

not to mention the light out of them is pretty seriously harsh

Resley pElvis is exactly right ...have fun scouring the house shining light thru anything and everything translucent ....much nicer diffuser and one that will not burn up a drop in.
