Battery charger switcheroo

I wanted to buy a new charger that would measure the capacity of the battery. I considered the Liitokala and Opus chargers.

Seems like Liitokala kind of copied Opus. That’s ok, except for one thing.

Liitokala switched the battery polarity orientation!

It is opposite all of my other chargers! think Nitecore, Xtar and so on…

my brain is old. I do not need this.

I bought the Opus.

I’ve had my Opus BT-3400 v. 2.2 for now over a year and it’s a capable charger. I bought two each of the Liitokala 100s and 202s and while they don’t do much, they seem flexible and didn’t break the bank.

They have the same orientation as the Opus, Xtar and NiteCore, so I don’t know what’s up with the 500?

Chris

I have both —Like the Opus in several ways—mainly you can do a 1 amp discharge instead of .5 amp max on the Liitokala—much easier to get the cells out to

Don’t sweat it. The Liitokala is OK, the Opus is a much more capable charger. I have both. I believe the Opus, I’m suspicious of the Liitokala and am ending up mostly using it for charging, not analyzing.

My eyes are old.
90% of the time I get the polarity correct.
Just got the Li-500 now I am down to 10% of the time of correct polarity.
And my LCD is installed upside down.

I ordered the opus ct3100

I will report back next year:)

I debated heavily between opus ct3100 (I already own the ct2400) and Lii-500. In the end, I chose the Lii-500 because of all the reports of fan failures on the ct3100.

Hope yours holds up.

Yo yo yo, don’t say your brain is too old man. Just say Liito is wack so you got the Opus. Feel as young as you want to!

(Some young’uns probably think I’m old with the yo yo yo…. or is that still hip?)

I was stuck between the opus and liito. I already had a opus nihm charger same exact functions except for NiMH. And was happy and familiar with it. Had I known I would get into lithium batteries several months later would have got the opus 3100 to begin with. But that was back when I was reading to deeply into the fear mongering that lithium cells are nitroglycerin any little thing bam horror story. I like you can discharge 4 slots at 1 amp and if you get in a rush you can top off a cell at 2 amps real quickly if need be. The two outer slots can each do 2 amps. If you put another cell in the middle slots it drops down to 1 amp. It can put 4 amps max whether 2x 2 amp or 4x 1 amp. First thing I did with mine was test every cell I have to get a idea on cell health. I even have a couple extra fans from GearBest in case the one ever goes out. Just swap it out. For $1.60 its worth it to me. I’ll take my chances. Been using it daily for months no problems. When I go to the park with my daughters its complelty dark. I make a circle of lights around the park and not uncommon to have 12-16 cells to recharge for the next night we go sometimes its back to back on nights. So it sees lots of regular even some might consider heavy use and its held up just like my opus nihm charger I’ve put through the ringer probably a couple thousand charges on it, still a champ

Switching the polarity orientation is just plain stupid and an accident waiting to happen.

100% not “hip” and never was

Word :+1:

chargers these days are well protected so a mistake is not the end of the world.
no big deal its just different.no issues on my lii-500.
with the electronics at the bottom possibly using a board meant for a unit with them in the top you get compromises like this.

P A N I C

I ordered and received an Opus CT100 from Amazon. Two day shipping at the china price.

However, the CT3100 was much cheaper from china. By the time it arrives, I will be surprised:)
