H2-C Boost Driver

Anyone have experience with this driver from kaidomain?

H2-C 22mm 1.5A Boost Driver

I was thinking of using this driver with a XHP35 in a Ultrafire MT-12 (F13). At 1.5A, I guess output will be around 1800 lumen.

No experience, but it looks good.

I have this one from TaoBao :

It says H2-C on the driver, but the layout is a bit different, the mode spacing appears to be the same. I have been using it in a Jaxman X1 :

I mostly use it with the extention tube, but it’s nice to have different battery options.

The Ultrafire F13 with a boost driver and a XHP35 is a very nice “sleeper” flashlight, I tried both HI and HD emitters but I like the beamprofile with the HI best. I am using this driver :

Definitely interesting in the performance.

150% (1.5A output) is only for 60 seconds then it steps down to 100% (1A) output. (” Hi(150) (reduce to Hi(100) after 60 secs)“)
That R100 resistor looks like the sense resistor for this driver, easy to acces for a resistor mod.

Well, I just looked at the listing. It doesn’t look like it has any way to access the ‘lower’ Hi mode, except to hit 150% Hi, then wait for the step down. I’d almost rather give up the 150% mode and use the 100% mode directly, to avoid the step-down.

If the step down on this is anything like the H2-C driver version I have, the step down is very subtle IMHO.

A simple ceiling bounce gives 145 LUX on 150% and 121 LUX after step down.

The “100% mode” is indeed a stepdown from the hi mode which is “150%”.
The funny thing is, with this driver 100% = 1000mA. So very low 0.01% would be = 0.1mA, low 5% would be = 50mA, medium 40% would be 400mA and of course the 150% would be 1500mA.

Though I agree a stepdown, especially after just 60 seconds, just sucks. But it is probably needed otherwise the driver would overheat?

I got one that i intend to put in a convoy L2 single cell with a xhp35 hi.

Did some testing today with a liitokala 26650.

It pulled 5.24 amps on turbo from the battery that was fresh of the charger at 4.19 volts.
That resulted in 13 volts and 1.35 amps to the led.

The big grey component on the driver got to hot to touch after just a couple of minutes. I intend to get a couple more drivers and test doing a resistor mod on what i guess is the current sensing resistor.
I do not think the driver will survive it without some additional heatsinking

I’m also thinking of doing a XHP35 HI in a F13 mod. I’m thinking of using either this H2-C driver or the 2-cell LD-51. The LD-51 apparently can be resistor-modded to 2-2.5A with proper heatsinking.

Are there any updates regarding the H2-C driver and resistor mods?

Ditto here, anyone can help on this, H2-C modding the resistor to 1.5 permanently instead of 1.0A?

Any details such as resistor used or if your thermal potting of the driver was sufficient for continuous use?

I used a R120 resistor for my mod.

And about the potting i cant realy comment since i dont use it more then a couple of minutes at a time, but for that use it is sufficient.

When i take it apart next time i will take some pictures.

I bought the H2-C with XHP50 12V.
With one 26650 battery works fine (didn’t managed to measure the current), when insert the 2nd battery, the driver gave up in 2-3 second.

Any idea?

Mine works fine with 2s, better than with 1s in fact. Is your driver broken now? The only thing I can suggest now is to look for possible shorts, on the driver itself or elsewhere.

Mine also behaves much better on 2S than 1S battery configuration. Are you using an extension tube?

The Meco flashlight come with ext. tube out of the box (so yes, I’m adding and removing it).
I didn’t notice any shorts or burned on the board, any area I should zoom in?

Does it still function on one cell? On the board itself I would look at the mosfet for any signs of a blow out.

Not function at all.
Still can read the number on the two mosfet (other side of the board?), so I can’t say they are damaged.
