Did I kill my TF Flame

Was tinkering with a handheld vac tonight because it would only run for about 30 seconds. Opened it up and noticed (3) subC nicad cells, voltage check indicated 3.7 volts so I thought what the heck I grabbed a good protected TF Flame (4.15v) and connected it to the vac. The motor spun about 2 times then stopped. I did this just a few more times until it would no longer spin and gave up. Checked the voltage of the TF and now it reads 1.89v :( . I put it on one of my cheap chargers but the light stayed green indicating a full charge. Checked it again an still at 1.89v.

What are your thoughts? Did I kill the protection circuit in this battery?

Sounds like the protection didn't work...that's weird..maybe throw it in the charger for a few minutes and see what happens?

Try charging it outside just in case and make sure it isn't getting hot while it is charging if it is abort the mission and chuck it.

I actually have 2 of the cheap DX chargers. Tried both and each time the lights stayed green indicating a fully charged battery. I took it out of the charger and set it out in the middle of my driveway. Just checked it again and now it reads 1.9v.

I just checked my mm and know that it's good so I think i'll just let it sit out in the driveway overnight and check it in the morning. Not sure I want to risk trying it in my WP2 II?

Doh!

Sounds like it must be toast...weird though

24 hours later and it's still sitting out in the driveway reading 1.89 volts. Not sure what I'll do with it :(

I guess I really cant believe I zapped that much juice out of the battery after having been connected to the vac for less than 15 seconds??

Take it down to the local homedepot and lay her to rest in the battery recycling drop off bin.
RIP dear cell.

I used to drain my cells when i first got into the 18650's.

All i did was lt it stay on the charger for a stupid long time and it kicked back into gear.

But mine was good to go before 24hrs so i dunno bro..

How many amps is the vac?

Just ask yourself if the risk of a lithium fire is worth saving $3 for a new cell.

It was for me :P i live on 20 acres out in the sticks.

So i can charge in a empty metal 55 gallon drum. lol

i would really just recycle it and get a new one. it is not worth it.

The battery is not doing you any good now so you might as well rip off the wrap and protection circuit, Try charging and if it works just make a wrap out of electrical tape and you have a sweet unprotected ghetto battery. I have a few, work fine.

Well I just removed the protection circuit and checked the voltage. 4.1 it reads.... I must have just destroyed the protection circuit?

Better than the battery or an explosion.

What is the current needed for that vac to work?

I think i'll give up on the vac. Already killed a good battery

Good idea. ;)
